Homestream Folders on Samsung TV Empty

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me out with my problems; I have been using Homestream for quite a while but I now have 3 problems with it. The first one is that while watching something that is being streamed from my PC, every now and again it will start to buffer and sometimes it will start to play again but at other times it won't. When it doesn't I get an error message on the screen which says either to check my internet connection or that Homestream has been disconnected. However, when I return to Homestream and try again, it is still visible!

The second, and most recent one is that I have the Samsung TV (UE37ES6300) connected to Homestream (this shows up on both the Homestream console and the TV) but when I navigate to the folders where my media should be through the TV, the main folders are there but the content from every single one of them is missing. I have tried re-adding them to the console but this has no effect whatsoever where the TV is concerned.

Thirdly, even though when I read up about Homestream, it says that it is able to play all video formats, this is not the case. It definitely will not play mkv files and sometimes it won't even play avi or mp4 formats!

I really don't want to have to go through the process of uninstalling and then re-installing Homestream but I will if I have to.

If you need more information, please feel free to ask. I am not exactly a newbie when it comes to computers but I don't understand a lot about streaming.

Thanks in advance

Re: Homestream Folders on Samsung TV Empty

Hi again all,

I managed to solve the problem of the Homestream folders being empty on my Samsung TV; it turned out to be a problem with my external hard drive where I store all my videos, etc. So glad I was able to sort it out myself! :D

Any help on the other problems would be much appreciated though!

Thanks all

What version of Homestream/Serviio are you using?
Make sure the correct profile is being assigned for your TV.

Re: Homestream Folders on Samsung TV Empty

Hi DenyAll,

The version of Homestream I am using is 2.0 but how do I go about making sure that the correct profile is assigned to my TV? I didn't need to assign a profile the first time I used it; I just uploaded the files in the console, waited for them to be added and they were ready to play.

Thanks

Re: Homestream Folders on Samsung TV Empty

You can check which profile is assigned on the Status Screen of the console.

Homestream was a variant of Serviio distributed with Sony devices. You may want to consider upgrading to the latest version of Serviio, which you can download from http://www.serviio.org/.

Re: Homestream Folders on Samsung TV Empty

Thanks for your help, DenyAll; I will try that soon. At the moment, I am having to re-download all the videos I had as my old external drive failed and I think that may have been the cause of the buffering and the reason why Homestream kept on disconnecting. I had a lot of stuff on that drive so it will take a while to put everything back on my new external hard drive.
