Problem with subtitles

I'm not sure what's wrong with getting subtitles to work for me. I made sure that the .srt file is the same name as the .mkv file. Is there anything else I have to do to ensure it works properly?

In the TV settings make sure that subtitles are enabled.

I can't seem to find that option on my TV.

What's the model? I have a UE37D5500 and it's on System -> Subtitle -> On/Off
