Folders are empty on UE40D8000

Hello,

I have installed a server at home on which I run Win2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 to replace my old and slow NAS. I installed Serviio on it and it seems to go ok.
I can now access Serviio from my TV set but the video folders seem to be empty.

I tried different settings with no luck. I also tried to delete my shared folder in Serviio and created a new one with only one small movie and ASCII characters only but still the same. I can not see any video in my folders from the TV.
The antivirus and firewall are both disabled on the server.

Moreover, there is another weird thing I can't explain. My TV is connected on the network and is on 192.168.10.42 but Serviio sees it on 192.168.27.14. If I delete it and manually recreate it, it seems to eventually reset to 192.168.27.14 after a while.

Any help would be appreciated before my kid has a nervous breakdown because he cannot watch his movies ;)

Thanks in advance,

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

Hi all,

I finally managed to get it working. It seems to be a problem with the Serviio profile for Samsung D series. Following a hint I found in another post, I selected B series profile and I can now access my files.

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

that should not matter, C/D/E is the profile for your TV. You could provide detailed log to see what's going on.

Can you tell me how to get this detailed log?

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.

I just noticed the link to activate the detailed debug in your signature. The file is too big so I uploaded it here: http://cjoint.com/?3Hdvs4xiaVX

What is weird is that when I changed from one profile to the other, it works for a while and then it stops working and I can't read the mkvs anymore.

Thanks for your help,

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

It's weird, there is something going on either with your router or the PC.

  Code:
2012-08-03 09:12:49,109 INFO  [RendererManager] Stored a new renderer: uuid='d6ac2b27-61e8-4d62-8c26-9f37876541fa', name = 'Unrecognized device', ipAddress='192.168.10.42', profile = '1'
2012-08-03 09:13:22,406 INFO  [RendererManager] Stored a new renderer: uuid='7918093e-def1-4674-8a0d-d54ca783a4cf', name = 'Unrecognized device', ipAddress='192.168.10.42', profile = '1'
2012-08-03 09:14:50,959 INFO  [RendererManager] Stored a new renderer: uuid='8ff0b291-fc92-40b1-b577-d4af613b92c0', name = 'UE40D8000', ipAddress='192.168.10.42', profile = '7'

Serviio makes a search request for renderer devices on the network and it receives 3 responses from the same IP address, for 3 different devices (uuid is different). So it then uses the profile of the last device for the IP, which can probably change depending on the timing of these responses.

Try to upgrade firmware in your TV as well and give the TV static IP address on your router.

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

There is no newer firmware version according to my TV. However, I set it to static IP and the first tries to read mkv seems to work.
I will try again later and I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks for your quick help.

Oops, just tried again awith the same mkv and it doesn't work again.

Very annoying. Do you have any other idea?

I tried device spy and it finds three devices under my tv name. Don't know if it's normal or not.

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

Oops, I was hoping you guys would know.

Is there anything I can do, because I don't feel like reencoding all my mkvs and the current situation makes Serviio pretty much impossible to use.

Is there anybody that has an idea about this or shall I consider reencoding all my mkvs?

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

do not reencode them.... multiple renderers might be caused by some service of the tv that can be turned on in its menu (totally guessing here). I'm sure there are people with this TV using Serviio successfully.

Can you provide device descriptions of the devices from Device Spy?

Also another option might be to remove DeviceDetection block from the C/D/E profile and assign the profile in the console - hopefully it'll stick.

Hi Petr,

Thanks for the answer. I'll be happy to try this has soon as I arrive home but I'm new to Serviio so if you could give me some indications on how to do this, it would be helpful.

Tx,

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

Hello,

I had a look at the profiles but I have no idea of what I should change to try and improve things. Even if I knew what I should try to change I wouldn't know how to write it.
Is there any kind of litterature on the contents of the fields?
Do you have any hint for me?

you'll find attached the info I found on the three devices seen by device spy:

Device 1 - RemoteControlReceiver.xml
Device #1
(1.21 KiB) Downloaded 552 times

Device 2 - SamsungMRDesc.xml
Device #2
(3.03 KiB) Downloaded 533 times

Device 3 - MainTVServer2Desc.xml
Device #3
(1.19 KiB) Downloaded 537 times

I hope it's what you need.

I know I might look useless but I'm really new to this and I have a severe lack of knowledge.

EDIT: I just did some tests and here is what I found. When I restart the server, it works fine but after about 3mn, the same mkv doesn't work anymore. I didn't change anything in the meantime and the TV stayed on.
After this delay, the TV IP address on the Serviio console changes from xxx.xxx.10.42 to xxx.xxx.27.14 after a refresh. I have no idea why considering my TV has a fixed IP. Ping answers on both IPs.

The fact it responds with 2 IPs is the weird thing and should be related to your network/setup. ideally you should fix that somehow.

Re: Folders are empty on UE40D8000

Hello,

Sorry for not answering earlier but I was travelling.

I tried the modified profile but it doesn't seem to change anything except that it seems to take a few more minutes before the Serviio server displays another IP for my TV.

The weird thing is that I disconnected the network cable from my TV right after the Serviio server detected it but the console still changed the IP after a while. More importantly, the status LED stays green and the IP address still answers to ping.

Other interrogation, I tried to change the name in the profile definition ("name" variable in the first line of the profile) but it didn't seem to change in the list of profiles in the console.

did you restart Serviio service (or the whole PC) after the profiles change?
