Can't see (or play) movie files with the extension .mv4

These movies have been bought and downloaded to my iMac from iTunes. I suspect that there might be some sort of protection on them. Can you tell me how I find out if they are protected, and if there is a way for them to show up on my Bravia TV?

You would need to convert to AVI or MP4 before they will work.

It's m4v, not mv4. Also DRM is optional, I guess some files might just play.

Hi rogerhow,
Did you find out if streaming m4v is possible? I have a video rental from iTunes, which is a m4v and I'm trying to figure out if I can stream it with Serviio. I added the folder which contains the movie to my Serviio library. I can see the folder when I browse with my Samsung Smart TV, but the movie itself isn't visible.

Thanks for your nice post. To iTunes movies, we know that all iTunes movies/TV shows are in M4V which DRM protected, making it impossible to be played on Apple unauthorized devices. If you really want to play iTunes movies on Android phone, Windows player, Samsung smart TV, etc. You have to get rip of DRM protection at first. DRM Media Converter for Windows is my choice. It well designed to remove DRM protection and convert to common MP4 format with all audio tracks, subtitles. You can check more info on here. Hope this tip is useful to you.
