Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Got home a bit late today but had a quick play :) I've got a test folder of many file types / codecs / formats so a quick summary :

On 2010 (EX503) everything working well, mkv's as AVC, divx (low) avi's now work as mpeg2, divx hd file now plays, Kodak PlaySport Zx3 720p and 1080p30 now play as AVCs. Only odd thing I guess was mpeg2 aren't full screen (they are on 2011). Though sometimes AVC seems to over load the tv and it stops responding to anything but off and when you press on its still playing hahaha! poor old tv :)

On 2011 (EX320) as above, mpeg2 are full screen.

TS listed but played on neither, 3gp not listed. I've not got online content working yet, this was a quick play, will test more but seems a good step forward so far. Only one profile for Sony Bravia, I'll copy over the 2011 profile I was testing so hopefully avi's will now work. Many thanks for your work.

Are the videos in this test folder, ones you can share with us? I know sometimes it is hard to find a test video when working on a transcoding profile and if we had a common set of test videos that we could use that would help alot.

I've now made this possible (to omit profile name) so will see when first 0.6 beta is out. Would be great if you could re-test it then.

The above from was page 5, I've tried a few lines but nothing is working yet. Any clues on how the line should look to get AVI working on beta ?

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

It should be already set up in the 0.6 beta profile. Also, please report your findings in the beta forum (create a new topic there) rather than here, thanks.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

The 2011 models have had many firmware updates and one of them as listed before they added some file types. So the latest firmware as of 1st August 2011, devicespy reports the following which I've put a few hard returns in just to make it easier to read. WMV support is the new part...avi's still not working though just incase anyone mis-understands.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Hi, I have a Sony Bravia 2011 series TV (26EX420), and would like to be a beta tester.
How do I register to be one?
Thanks

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Hey,

Im new to the forum and Servioo, so, sorry if these have already been answered somewhere. I recently bought a Sony EX724 TV and would like to play and stream stuff from my laptop/external hard drive. I've read that Sonys internal format support is not that great (no MKVs for e.g.), but will Servioo be able to play those (MKVs) on my TV from my laptop?

Also, for other EX720 owners, can I see my TV's IP address somewhere in the TV setting/options?

MKV is not supported by Sony TV, so Serviio with Sony Bravia profile selected will transcode the mkv into a MPEG2TS stream.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Excellent, thank you for detailed and fast support.

How much, if at all, will MPEG2TS transcoding affect the streaming in terms of buffering/lag and the quality of the video?

I took ffmpeg info from one of the MKVs on my HD if that has any help to my question..

in terms of buffering/lag --> Not sure but I would say no.
in terms of quality of video --> NO, because video stream is remuxed as is.

Thanks, could you also report the MediaInfo result of this file?

EDIT: with Serviio and Sony profile selected, this file must be remuxed into MPEG2TS with same Video codec (h264/AVC) but audio will be transcoded into AC3-6Channel, because Sony doesn't support DTS audio.

Do users (2011 models owners) could test the following profile, with MP4 samples (H264/AAC) ??
Please, check on detailed logging how file is delivered by serviio (native format or transcoded by a ffmpeg command line) ?

I would like to modify the 0.6.1 version of "Sony TV 2011" profile to allow MP4 playing natively... (MP4 / H264 / AAC)
So I comment some lines
<!-- <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" /> -->
<!-- <Matches container="mp4" /> -->

Mp4/h264 with ac3 audio is not supported so the following line is kept:
<Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" aCodec="ac3" />

So please, could you modify the profiles.xml file with my previous modify profile, found a MP4/H264/AAC sample and test with your 2011 TV model.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Cool, this is exactly why it was worth working out those regular expressions to separate the models into different years. Are there any other new capabilities of the 2011 ones?

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

hi all,

newbie in the DLNA-verse here so please take it easy on me.
i recently purchased a SONY Bravia HX925 (Asia-pacific model) and like everyone here, am eager to watch .avi .mp4 .mkv movies on SONY Bravias. (most of the files on my computer are .avi)

i have installed serviio version 0.6.0.1 without any dramas.
however, for some reason, some of the .avi movies are not playing - "playback not available"
the default profile has not been modified. the xml file is similar to http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3662

all the .264 MP4 files play smoothly.
for example an mp4 with these properties works fine
Video
Frame width 1280
Frame height 544
Data rate 816kbps
Total bitrate 848kbps
Frame rate 23 frames/second
codec H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part10) (avc1)

some AVI with those properties also work fine
Video
Frame width 640
Frame height 352
Data rate 864kbps
Total bitrate 992kbps
Frame rate 25 frames/second
codec MPEG-4 Video (XVID)

Video
Frame width 640
Frame height 272
Data rate 867kbps
Total bitrate 1001kbps
Frame rate 23 frames/second
codec MPEG-4 Video (XVID)

but some AVI with those properties do not
Video
Frame width 640
Frame height 272
Data rate 1119kbps
Total bitrate 1311kbps
Frame rate 23 frames/second
codec MPEG-4 Video (XVID)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
