Just to confirm, could you provide GetProtocolInfo sink result of your UK N200 device?

Thanks, so SMP-N200 models (US and UK) are similar to BDP-S780 (2011).

Re: Sony SMP-N200 Profile?

Just discovered this forum, because my Sony wmp-n200 could not access files on the Logitech media server...it found the server, but cld not access any music files..

So, a search on YouTube for DNLA, and I discovered Serviio..works like a charm with the Sony..I am not sure what extra features would become available with a specific profile for the n200 -- but just want to say thx to the folks here who support this wonderful application...

from what illico is saying there would be any as N200 has same support as the S780-BDP minus the blueray disk drive :P

Re: Sony SMP-N200 Profile?

I am starting to learn how to get live streams across the wireless network to the Sony ...so far, I can only get the NASA channel...

I know I am missing a simple step ..I tried setting some HD cannels up, but got error -"There is No Playable File"

Can someone point to a step-by-step procedure to get a channel on the player - like, say, CNN or MSNBC using Serviio ??

The wireless may be limiting factor (although netflix comes in just fine) .. thinking I might want to install some powerline adapters rather than run ethernet

Could you provide information about these channels? its probably because the format is not supported by the Sony device.

Re: Sony SMP-N200 Profile?

After installing the plugins, the channels appeared, like magic.

The HD still does not come in .. (Animal Planet, History etc) but my TV is standard def, so I may have a plm there (smile)

The holy grail would be getting NFL football via the Serviio ... any football fans out there ??

Re: Sony SMP-N200 Profile?

Hey guys,

I just purchased a Sony SMP-N2000 US unit. I built a Ubuntu 10.04 box out of spare parts and use it as a media server. Even though I'm a novice Linux user, I'm pretty good at finding info and following it. After finding that the only way for me to network with the N2000 was with DLNA, I Google'd DLNA Ubuntu, did a bit of research, and it appears I've made the right choice.

Easy Ubuntu install - created a folder - dropped files there - created two launchers (serviio.sh and serviio-console.sh) and I was up and running. The console was pretty straight forward and I only consulted the wiki to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. Granted, I'm running a basic setup I guess. Excellent work and thanks!

At the moment there are some media files that I can't play on the N2000 (via USB drive or any other method). So I'm wondering if a properly configured profile would help (I'll list the problematic formats in a bit). I've read the wiki stuff on transcoding and such and at that point, I was getting lost.

What steps are need to get a working profile for this device? Is there any info I can provide that would help someone create a profile?

I have Ubuntu 10.04 running Serviio. I have put in all the latest plugins, but cannot play M2TS files using the Ubuntu box...they work fine on Windows XP, running same version of Serviio...The box does play all the files in the music collection...I am sure this video plm is an easy fix, just not sure where to start ...

Any ideas ?

Here are 4 results....well.... 5 after the edit. An avi and mp4 that works and an avi and mp4 that doesn't. The avi that doesn't work on the N2000 does playback on the Xbox360. The mp4 that doesn't work on the N2000 doesn't play on the Xbox360 either and attempts to play in Ubuntu's media player after installing the codecs it wanted. But it's garbled. You can almost make out what's going on.

I'm guessing that "could not find codec parameters" means that novid1.mp4 is corrupted? I included info on the other mp4 vid out of that series "novid1b.mp4".

The only idea I have would be to try the sony bluray profile that Cerberus suggested. Keep in mind the extent of my knowledge on this topic is listed above (ie: close to nothing).

Re: Sony SMP-N200 Profile?

novid1.mp4 and novid1b.mp4 - yep they are adware infected files, that why it want to install its own special codec.

novid2.avi - needs repairing use this link http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=avirepair

wrkvid1.mp4 - looks ok but might have header compression please provide mediainfo for that fiel

wrkvid2.avi - looks good an should play fine.

*** Update --another poster recommended going to Ubuntu 10.10 ... so I upgraded, and just restarted new version, and the M2TS files play beautifully !! Thanks for the obvious suggestion ..
