Playing .3gp files on Sony BDP S570

There is sparse documentation but it is suggested serviio will play .3gp video files from my phone. Serviio won't recognize these even with transcoding turned on when trying to load from my Sony BDP-S570 blu ray. I have tried to convert them to .mkv, .mp4, .mpg with remuxing. I either get sound and no video, video and no sound or low res distorted video with sound. What is the truth?
