[SOLVED] mkv + srt = Error ! (sony bdp-s590)

Hello everyone !

Looking for a media center to stream content on a Sony Bdp S590 (2012), I get to use Serviio and it worked just fine ... well, until I tried to stream a mkv content with an external subtitle.

I'm using :
Sony bdp s590
Serviio v1.3.1
Bla.mkv
Bla.srt

The thing is, that the mkv file just work well without the .srt file, but once I add it in the same folder, my Sony blu ray player show me "Bla.mkv - m2ts file" instead of "*Bla.mkv - mkv file", so it lose it's star before the file name and it is recognize as a m2ts file (it is maybe normal i'm not an expert).

the thing is, i got the error message "the file is corrupted or unreadable" something like this.

I tried to rename it shortly, didn't work,
I set the subtitles options like the screenshot in this post (http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=14340) but it didn't work,
I tried to convert to UTf-8, didn't work,

The most awkward thing is that is seemed to work once, and i tried to reinstall serviio yesterday, it also seemed to work the first time, then i renamed (Bla1 instead of Bla) my .mkv and .srt file and forced the refresh, and i got this error message again.

I haven't any [ or ] in my file path (http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9623)

Does anyone share the same trouble ?

Hello Dekron,

Just uncheck "Enable burned in subtitles" it should work then, also consider unchecking "Enable Extraction of subtitles....".

Have you tried stopping and restarting Serviio after you've made the changes. Sometimes that's necessary.

Yes, many times (stopping and restarting serviio console + service manually + refresh). I'll try everything again slowly tonight but I don't expect much success ...

Don't you have the same issue with an external subtitle file (.srt) ?

For your information.
- When there is no srt file, the mkv file is delivered in native format "*Bla.mkv - mkv file"
- When there is a srt file, serviio remux audio with a transcoded video track (sub burning) into a mpegts container, the file appears as "Bla.mkv - m2ts file" (m2ts means mpeg2ts)

Then you can try to enable detailed logging and check the ffmpeg command line used to transcode your mkv file with srt file ?
Post this log section here.

The log file is quite large !!

I got this error message (but it was already in UTF-8 when i checked, with codes "xE7"-like instead of the "ê":

I used "Notepad++" to convert the original file to the UTF-8 format, maybe i shouldn't have ... Anyway I replaced this sentence by removing any special character, and it seems to work now ...

So it seems to be an issue with the content of the subtitle file ... i will keep the "debug" mode in mind next time I got trouble ! thanks to you anyway, this is solved
