Best way to do subtitles for BDP-S370 EU 2010?

I managed to get serviio to burn-in subtitle streams on movies, and it shows up nicely on my 370.

HOWEVER, to make it work I'm restricted to setting it up to always burn-in one particular set of subs. This sometimes gets me the english-for-the-hard-of-hearing, sometimes some odd east-asian language ( and occasionally the sub track I want).

I would very much like to be able to select the subtitle stream to use on-the-fly!

Sometimes I want to watch a movie w/o subtitles, sometimes with them enabled. Sometimes I want to replay a minute or two with subtitles, then and there, while watching most of it w/o any subs.

What would be the best way to do this??? Is it even possible??

Not possible with this model (2010). In my memories, I think you can enable/disable subtitle tracks on the fly with remote control only with AVI xSub.

With latest 2013 model, embedded subtitles in mkv are supported, and you can enable/disble sub track on the fly.

But with serviio... its not possible (from my point of view).

My 370 is my preferred device on account of video motion quality; I do have a WD TV LIVE HD as well, which does subs properly.

I do value being able to FF and REW, so mkv-s are out, I suppose.

I don't suppose it's just a matter of 370 FW versions??

Perhaps I should contemplate getting a better BD player, but most of the high-quality boxes I've seen seem to have major SW quality issues; Like Oppo BDP105 which makes you spend anywhere up to 30 minutes per session rebooting and unhanging the device, rather than just playing.

Like in the old Dungeon/Adventure games, you can't have everything...

Are there any non-disc media players with REALLY good video quality?
