Problem with some .avis sending to Sony Blueray BDP-S3100

Hi - I am using Serviio to send data from Windows 8.1 PC to Sony Blueray BDP-S3100 via DLNA, whose profile I selected in Serviio. For some videos it works great, far better than the alternatives I tried.
For others it does not work at all, and gives "The file is corrupt or unsupported" even though both files are .AVIs and both play fine on the PC itself.

Here is the output from ffmpeg on an example file that DOES NOT work.

Input #0, avi, from 'C:\Users\Adam\Desktop\GOT\Game of Thrones Season 01 Episode
02 - The Kingsroad.avi':
Metadata:
title : Game of Thrones Season 1 Episode 02 - The Kingsroad
artist : TSV Productions
encoder : Lavf53.32.100
Duration: 00:55:17.36, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1386 kb/s
Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (Main) (H264 / 0x34363248), yuv420p, 720x406, 23.98
fps, 23.98 tbr, 23.98 tbn, 47.95 tbc
Stream #0:1: Audio: ac3 ([0] [0][0] / 0x2000), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 128 k
b/s

I think from other research that my player may not support H264 (?) but I thought that Serviio might transcode to make the video play, or do I misunderstand what the transcoding does or how to use? Transcoding is ticked in the setup.

I also got a program "gspot" that analyses video files. Here is some output of it for the one that DOES NOT work.

FILE_NAME Game of Thrones Season 01 Episode 02 - The Kingsroad.avi

And here is some sample output from a file that DOES work very well

I wonder if someone can help me understand how to configure Serviio to make the first one play?
Or is it the case that Serviio transcoding does not do this and I need a different program to use first on the .avi file?

Thanks a lot, I really like the product for the videos it works on so far, it is far superior to a NAS I have!

Re: Problem with some .avis sending to Sony Blueray BDP-S310

The files are likely to be the problem. AVI was never technically designed to contain H.264 video. It can do it just about, but I believe it violates some aspects of the specification. From what I have read previously on the subject, basically nobody should be encoding H.264 into AVI containers now that MP4 or MKV exist and are widely supported.
