Sony BDP- S5200 ?

Hi,

After getting a new Sony BDP- S5200 player, I tried to make it work with my Serviio server, but I don't see any specific profile for this model.
So I tried using the 2013 profile (BDP-Sx100), it seems to work but then I get some very annoying freezing in the middle of videos. :( Only way to resume playing after a freeze is by pressing the stop key on the remote and then again play .

I was wondering what profile I should be using to make Serviio work with my player?

Thanks again for any help ! :D

That is the correct profile. However, I also encountered the same exact issue with my S3100 players. The movie will play for a while, then freeze. It isn't related to Serviio, because it would do the same thing with media streamed via Windows Media Services.

This problem cropped up for me about 6-8 months ago. I finally threw in the towel and bought a Samsung BD player. It's a shame because the Sony did everything so well, but they've mucked up their firmware and there's no way to install older versions.

Re: Sony BDP- S5200 ?

Thanks atc98092,

I don't know, my model is a S5200, so it's a 2014 model not a 2013. Maybe the cause is different, being different hardware ? :?
And if it is a firmware issue, why can I stream perfectly videos with Universal Media Server ?

I can't answer why UMS worked. I tried Plex DLNA as well as Windows Media Streaming and Serviio. They all paused (froze) playback. Doesn't happen with my Panasonic TV, Samsung devices or Roku players.

True, your 5200 is a newer model, but I believe the profile for the x100 series is still good. However, someone would need to compare the device info from DeviceSpy, which I'm not smart enough to do. :D

I just didn't trust Sony anymore to try the latest BD player instead of another brand. I tried a Toshiba player, and while it seemed to play OK the user interface was lousy. Since they should be coming out with a 4K Blu-Ray player this year, I'll just be waiting for one of those.
