Serviio Is Not Showing Any AVC/H.264 Videos On Bravia EX700

Hi,

Serviio 0.5.2 is only showing MPEG2/DivX videos on My Sony Bravia EX700, non of my AVC/H.264 videos show in the video folder. I thought Serviio was able to remux such videos into mpeg-ts so that the Sony TV would play them easily, or is that only for the U.K. version of the EX700? I put the Serviio TV profile setting to "Sony Bravia TV" but Serviio is not showing any MP4/MKV/M2TS files, it only show AVI files. :?

I really want to dump Wild Media Server but I have tried all other Media Servers and they all have failed to easily play what Wild Media Server plays using TsMuxer as the transcoder/re-muxer with little CPU usage and loss of video quality. Serviio is my last a only free option, is there a proper working profile for my Bravia EX700 that is confirmed to actually be fully working? Any help would truly be appreciated...

Hi,

I rechecked the "Library" tab and for some reason the "Retrieve Descriptive Metadata" box gets automatically checked when you put a check mark on the video box. I wish it wouldn't do that by default as it stops certain files from showing, confusing any newbie and probably never knowing what the problem is.

All my files are now showing and I've tested a few of them and they play but some may have sound sync issues. I usually fix that by putting a max of -5/5 second delay in the "Wild Media Server" options but I don't know where Serviio would accommodate that, please let me know if that is even possible?

By the way my CPU (AMD Phenom Quadcore 3.0ghz Win7 64bit) is still at around 60% usage and I'm not even watching any videos or using any other programs. I see two instances of the ffmpeg program still running in my task manager. :?

Is there any way that you would consider allowing us to use TsMuxer as the transcoder and only use ffmpeg when TsMuxer does not support a file/codec? This would cut down greatly on the CPU hung usage, when I play a video file using the "Wild Media Server" my CPU goes back to an idle state after about 5 minutes. On the Serviio the ffmpeg's are still running when nothing has been played for over 30 minutes. Do I have to close them manually? Maybe ffmpeg glitched as I see no reason for it to still be running after such a long time of no videos even being played. I experince the same problem with Mezzmo when using ffmpeg instead TsMuxer. :|

There's got to be a way to fix that by telling ffmpeg to stop running if a different file is played and or no file has been played for let's say five minutes or so (Wild Media Server does that and such options are user defined)...

That's not true, they will appear, just not in Movies category, they'll sit in Last Added and Folders categories.

For the other questions, they have been answered many times on the forum.

I waited a long time and those files never showed in any folder until I unchecked the "Retrieve Descriptive Metadata" box, so I"m not sure what's up with that. :?

Also when I try to close the two instances of the ffmpeg program they keep coming back, what is causing this?

Again, there's got to be a way to fix that by telling ffmpeg to stop running if a different file is played and or no file has been played for let's say five minutes or so (Wild Media Server does that and such options are user defined)...

FFMpeg is used to retrieve information about your files, so it's normal for it to keep appearing while your library is being indexed.

Keeping FFmpeg finish the transcoding job has it's pros and cons, that have been discussed.

Re: Serviio Is Not Showing Any AVC/H.264 Videos On Bravia EX

Oh, I didn't know that ffmpeg was indexing my hundreds of media files, it's just that I've gotten used to how quickly the "Wild Media Server" indexed all my files and without such a power drain. If it wasn't for the ridiculous licensing requirement for "Wild Media Server" I would be sticking with that instead, but I'm sure "Serviio" will continue to improve/grow.

So far Serviio is working better than all the other media servers out there except for WMS but only because of my great use of TsMuxer and the WMS smaller power usage. Anyways, keep up the good work, in the mean time I'll search for TsMuxer on this forum to see if it will ever be an option with Serviio... :geek:
