Newbie - PS3 cant see serviio?

Just installed and started Serviio.

No obvious error messages, but when I get my PS3 to scan for media servers, all it sees are 5 "windows media" servers each corresponding to a username on the PC (?). Nothing that looks like or is called "Servio".

I've attached the log, it should include the period with the scan from the PS3, which is IP 192.169.0.5. The PC is 192.168.0.6.

Any clues anyone?

No 192.168.1.5 (PS3 IP address) in the log file ?!

What is your PS3 network setings (mask address, dns, etc)?
Could you clear the server list in the PS3 menu?

More specifically, it says:

2011-10-24 17:38:34,213 DEBUG [DiscoverySSDPMessageListener] Received a valid M-SEARCH message for search target urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1 from address /192.168.0.5:61101

2011-10-24 17:38:34,418 DEBUG [DiscoverySearchResponder] Sending 1 M-SEARCH response message(s) to /192.168.0.5:61101

So something is working - but the PS3 doesn't seem to register it.

You confirm PS3 is 192.168.0.5 not 192.169.0.5... ?

- In serviio console, clean device list (remove) then save.
- In PS3 menu clean server list
- Restart serviio service.

Thanks!

Yes, my typo.

I've removed the devices from the Serviio console, restarted the service .. but how do I clean the PS3 menu server list?

I can't find anything on the PS3 menu system that says "clean server list" or similar. Where is it?

I don't have PS3, but on all Sony devices (BDP, TV BRavia, SMP) : Home--> Network --> Server Display Settings --> Option --> Delete

Look at this : http://manuals.playstation.net/document ... tdlna.html

Re: Newbie - PS3 cant see serviio?

There's no menu item like that on the PS3. Neither is "clean" mentioned in http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectdlna.html

So all a bit baffling.

Re: Newbie - PS3 cant see serviio?

I have to say, the PS3 can happily see the Windows Media Player sharing services - and they vanish straight away if I kill that service on the PC.

But it still does not see Serviio at all.

Should I give up and use Windows Media Player instead?

Re: Newbie - PS3 cant see serviio?

Did you open up the ports in your firewall for Servii?

  Code:
My device doesn't see Serviio

This could be caused by you having multiple IP addresses on the machine and Serviio binding to a wrong one. Insert IP address of the machine running Serviio into 'Bound IP address' field in Network Settings section in the console or pass system variable serviio.boundAddr including the IP address when starting the server.

Also make sure that TCP port 8895 and UDP 1900 are open in your firewall.

If you are on a Linux based OS, make sure you set up multicast routes properly.

If on Windows, you can push Serviio service down in starting order.

Re: Newbie - PS3 cant see serviio?

Well, it looks like it was the firewall ports. Thanks for the help!!

Also make sure that TCP port 8895 and UDP 1900 are open in your firewall.

The install process had already made 5 other Serviio firewall rules, so why on earth did it not add these at the same time?

Anyway, now both the PS3 and the Samsung TV can at least see the server. Neither seems to be able to see any content however, so I'll have to look further.

Minor question: the PS3 has a yellow dot in the renderer profile list. What does this mean? The TV has a green dot.

Yellow means it cannot decide whether PS3 is on or off as it doesn't support the functionality (as proved by it not showing in DeviceSpy)
