PS3 and AVI created from MiniDV not supported

Hi,
I have Serviio installed on my DS411 and I have lots of AVI files created from miniDV camcorder. I am using PS3 to stream that to feed Denon 2112CI. It plays some of the movies directly downloaded from intrernet but does not play the miniDV avi. Also it does not play the videos created by cellphone (.3gp). I have attached the formats for both of them. Please advise what should I do?

Re: PS3 and AVI created from MiniDV not supported

add this to trancoding section in the ps3 profile.

  Code:
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="dvvideo" />

and then files shoudl play :)

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I already have this in the PS3 profile. As mentioned in my previous email that I have few issues.

1. PS3 is not playing avi captured from miniDV (Sony). I already have the line mentioned in my PS3 profile. Its still not playing.
2. PS3 do not play any .3gp files.
3. I have Denon 2112CI, I can see Serviio and browse the folders, but against video folder it says Video(not play) and no matter what you click it does not play that file.

Could you enable detailed logging and find the ffmpeg command line used to transcode your avi/dvvideo file ?

Since you only answered the first issue. Does it mean that the other two issues are not supported?

For the first issue I updated the log4j.xml with DEBUG instead of info and I ran the following command. I want to know if this is correct also there are many log files how do I attach those files from Synology?

Let's go step by step or I'm confused. There are many messages to manage. So I only answered the first issue...

No this is not what I want.
Check the log file and find the ffmpeg command line used to transcode your avi source file to the serviio temp folder.

Could you try locally in a shell the same command line and look at the ffmpeg log output

So this output file seems good.
Could you now add this output file in serviio library and try to play it?

Re: PS3 and AVI created from MiniDV not supported

Copy the previous output file "/volume1/@tmp/Serviio/transcoding-temp-1343-MPEG2TS.stf" in another path of your choice.
Then add this file to serviio library; refresh library; try to play this file.

When I tried now it worked but the quality is not good at all. May be since I am watching this on a 40" TV. But do I need to run all these manually and then I can play these files? I may have more than 100 files..

No need to run all manually, its for debugging purpose...
What we can see, is that the ffmpeg command line for transcoding this avi file is good, so the output temp file is playable for your renderer.
But why this file did not play?
That could be due to the low CPU of your NAS DS411 ? -> when you use the ffmpeg command line locally/manually, the transcoding process performance seems low (fps= 4) compare to the frame rate required (fps=30)

May be the case, but when I run movies downloaded from internet, those run fine and are big movies.. But what should I do? Since the quality is also not good. For most of the part I have miniDVs still available. Should I capture and convert in a format which is playable on PS3 with high quality?

Re: PS3 and AVI created from MiniDV not supported

Hi,
Can someone please suggest what should I do in order to run these miniDV files? If needed then I can run a batch job to convert them upfront. I tried many settings using WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe and Clone2Go Video Converter Professional. Nothing worked in Serviio or PS3. I am kind of confused now. I really appreciate any help.

ask_j wrote:1.

1. Could you provide a miniDV sample
2. Could you provide .3gp information (MediaInfo and ddmpeg -i result), check on detailed logging that ffmpeg don't crash during transcoding.
3. For me Denon does not support video over DLNA :
Enhanced by digital network audio/photo streaming capabilities, including support for AirPlay, mp3/WMA/WAV and FLAC HD audio.
When connected to a network, the AVR-2112CI lets you listen to Internet radio, play audio files, and display images via an Ethernet connection.
