SONY BDP BX37 no FF/RWD or M4V

I love Serviio. Originally, I tested on Windows, then put it on a Ubuntu server. I love it because it just works. I have been using it daily for 6 months, and occasionally for 2 years.

Of course, my Sony Blu-Ray is not always friendly with it. I followed the instructions about changing the DIVX to MPEG for U.S. versions for the Sony BD. The device is setup as the Sony BD Player / SMP. It seems like everything is being transcoded (although I have no idea how to tell). The Sony device will not even list the M4V files. And, mp4 files do not FF/RWD (and perhaps some flv files too).

I assume it can all be resolved with some transcoding settings -- a subject I know very little about. Any help here?

Thanks

It sounds like you might be using an up to date version of Serviio with an older device profile. Serviio 0.6.2 ought to work fine for that model with the profiles untouched.
LG OLED55B8PLA | PS4 Pro | Xbox One S | Synology DS214play
Serviio 2.1 package for Synology NAS - with limited hardware transcoding support!

It is 0.6.2 and the files were simply extracted from the tar.gz file :?: :?: :?: :?:

Re: SONY BDP BX37 no FF/RWD or M4V

Stupid question: how can I test the serviio server from an xp machine or linux? I can hit the network and get to the files from the pc and play them, but that does not test whether the issue is the serviio config. In other words, I have never bothered having a DNLA client.

Can it be done in smplayer, mplayer, etc?

If anyone else has this problem, it appears to be an issue with FFMPEG (in particular, the branch of FFMPEG used by Ubuntu is crippled a little). The serviio log file pointed me in this direction. I am recompiling from source and expect this to resolve the issue.

Re: SONY BDP BX37 no FF/RWD or M4V

FFMPEG was the issue for me. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 and used a different repository for the 'real' FFMPEG packages. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3691&p=48727#p31646 for more info.

Now able to pause, ff, rwd.

To answer your testing question: VLC can be run from a desktop client on most operating systems. In version 2, browse to local network and then universal plug 'n' play. In my case, all other clients were able to pause etc except the sony tv until change the FFMPEG packages.

Return to Sony
