PS3 Cannot Play MP4 File, Can Play from WHS Streaming

Hello All,

I'm really enjoying Serviio, but I'm having a little trouble with the PS3 side of it. I was using the built in media server in Windows Server 2012 Essentials (similar to WHS 2011), but I wasn't happy with it. After I installed Serviio, I was much happier. Nearly all the files work without a problem except for one group of files.

When I select the folder, I do not see any thumbnails, and they all say "Unsupported Data." I figured I would just force it to transcode by modifying the profile, but then I saw the same folder played without a problem on the built in Essentials media server. The server didn't seem to be transcoding anything, and I could see thumbnails too. I also could play it without an issue from a USB drive.

I also have a Sony Blu-Ray player, and the file plays fine on there from Serviio. Switching the PS3 to the generic profile results in the same problem. Switching the profile to the Sony Blu-Ray player allows me to see thumbnails, but I cannot play the file, I get a "Corrupt Data" message after attempting to play it, and the thumbnail then disappears. Any ideas? Do I need to remux the file type for some reason? I'm pretty sure PS3 supports the format natively as I can play it from Essentials 2012 and a USB stick, but maybe I'm just missing something. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

It would not transcode this file with the PS3 profile either. Might be a mime-type problem. Could you install Intel tools (see my signature), run AV Media Controller, browse to the file on the Essentials media server, get its properties and then the video Resource. What is its protocol info? And what does Serviio show (give the PC running the tool the PS3 profile in the console first)?

Re: PS3 Cannot Play MP4 File, Can Play from WHS Streaming

I appreciate the response. With the PS3 profile, Serviio only reports two resources, but the video one was the first resource, and it is as follows:
  Code:
http-get:*:video/mp4:DLNA.ORG_PN=MPEG4_P2_MP4_ASP_AAC;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01500000000000000000000000000000

The Essentials media server was a little trickier because unlike Serviio, there are 18 resources. Assuming it is the first one like Serviio (not sure if this is a big assumption), it is a follows:
  Code:
http-get:*:video/mp4:DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000

Resource two is a little longer and more closely matches Serviio. Not sure if it matters, but it doesn't appear any of them match Serviio's PN which starts with MPEG4.
  Code:
http-get:*:video/mp4:DLNA.ORG_PN=AVC_MP4_BL_L3L_SD_AAC;DLNA.ORG_OP=10;DLNA.ORG_CI=1;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000

If that isn't the correct resource, I can probably post the others as well. Sorry, I'm just not 100% familiar with what I'm looking at in this program.

Edit PlayStation profile (profiles.xml) by adding this line on <MediaFormatProfiles>:
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/mp4" name="">MPEG4_P2_MP4_ASP_AAC</MediaFormatProfile>
Save, restart serviio services or reboot then retry with the same file...
