Sony Bravia blank videos

I have a Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U
Files created on my Humax ( ts files ) play but the screen is blank and no audio.
Originally I had an ffmpeg error so I build ffmpeg as per the wiki.
But it still plays blank.
From another PVR I have some mts file, some of these play OK from Serviio.
Any ideas ?
Thanks Jim

Re: Sony Braivia blank videos

Could you provide information about your PVR file format ? see signature links.
"ffmpeg -i" and MediaInfo tools result please.

Is it possible to attach files, I couldn't see an option.
So here is the text ..
I will try and run Mediainfo but need to get my monitor working for that.

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

Your ts files used variable GOP structure, don't know if Sony 2009 devices support it. I suggest to force mpeg2video transcoding for files come from your PVR.
if all PVR files are "mpegts/mpeg2video/mp2" you can try this modification on profiles.xml

  Code:
   <Profile id="sony2009" name="Sony Bravia TV (2009)" extendsProfileId="sony2010">
<!-- 2009 and earlier models need a separate profile -->
      <Detection>
         <UPnPSearch>
<!-- 2009 models known to support UPnPSearch -->

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

Didn't work.
I thought it had when the first frame of the film appeared, but that was it no more and no audio.
Will have a look in the logs.

There is an entry "This is a possible error", that may be relevant.

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

Could you retry the same command line locally in a terminal and look at the ffmpeg error log?

ffmpeg -threads 4 -i "/mediaraid/JimsVids/CarryOnFilms/Carry-On-Behind.ts" -y -copyts -c:v mpeg2video -b:v 17000k -maxrate:v 17000k -bufsize:v 17000k -vf "pad=1024:576:160:0:black,setdar=4:3" -r 24000/1001 -g 15 -c:a ac3 -b:a 192k -ac 2 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -f "mpegts /tmp/Serviio/transcoding-temp-16-sony2009-ORIGINAL.stf"

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

Could you retry with (I made an error on " just after -f ):
ffmpeg -threads 4 -i "/mediaraid/JimsVids/CarryOnFilms/Carry-On-Behind.ts" -y -copyts -c:v mpeg2video -b:v 17000k -maxrate:v 17000k -bufsize:v 17000k -vf "pad=1024:576:160:0:black,setdar=4:3" -r 24000/1001 -g 15 -c:a ac3 -b:a 192k -ac 2 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -f mpegts "/tmp/Serviio/transcoding-temp-16-sony2009-ORIGINAL.stf"

there were a problem with the output file "/tmp/Serviio/transcoding-temp-16-sony2009-ORIGINAL.stf: No such file or directory"
could you retry with a file path where you can write ?

It seems that your ffmepg version is not uptodate : look at this : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=build_ffmpeg_linux

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

I have had great trouble trying to get my Humax Foxsat TS files to stream to my Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U TV

After much fiddling I find the following works using Serviio with it's out the box profiles.

ffmpeg -i myfile.ts -vcodec h264 myfile.mov

or for an 8 minute (480 secs) test

ffmpeg -i myfile.ts -t 480 -vcodec h264 myfile.mov

Serviio then plays them and the FF pause and rewind works on the Sony. Also seems to remember where you were last time.
Also works with XBMC.

When converting with ffmpeg it seems to take about as long as the duration of the movie !

Still it seems to work (so far).

Hope this helps people with Sonys

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

Just for the record
I have Serviio on a quad core Unbuntu server.
I am currently streaming a ffmpeg converted Batman.mov to 4 displays

1) Sony TV down a powerline link
2) XBMC/Raspberry PI on an old CRT TV down the same powerline link
3) XBMC on a windows 7 laptop via Wifi
4) XBMC running on the Ubuntu server it's self. ( Same server as Serviio )

As far as I can see they are all playing flawlessly.

The Ubuntu server seems to be running around 60% CPU.

Most impressed !

Re: Sony Bravia blank videos

I think the 60% CPU was XBMC playing the Video
I stopped XBMC on the Serviio server and with 2 displays streaming the CPU was about 1% or even less !
