Possible to stream HD?

Hey Experts!

I've just recently found out how to do streaming from my home PC to my Sony Bravia KDL-46HX750. I have been ripping my DVDs (most of them non-BluRay) using Handbrake, which seems to work just fine. Unfortunately Handbrake could not understand the formats of my Blu-Ray DVDs, so I am using Aiseesoft's Blu-Ray Ripper instead. When I rip a Blu-Ray, it makes a VERY large .mp4 file (approx 12GB). I don't mind the size since I have the drive space and not too many Blu-Rays. The file plays fine on my PC, but the problem comes when I try to stream this file to my TV. All I get is a blank screen for a few seconds and then it stops.

Is what I'm doing here possible? Have a ripped the file with the wrong settings (i.e. bitrate, fps, etc.)? Or is this an issue with the Serviio and the current profile I am using (Sony Bravia 2012)? ANY guidance that anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Provide information about your ripped file (see signature links).

Re: Possible to stream HD?

I rip Blu-Rays all the time, using MakeMKV. It of course is in MKV format. They play perfectly on my Sony SNP-N200 boxes and most of them will play straight to my Panasonic ST30 Plasma. The only problems I have is a few movies (Dark Knight Rises for one) has such a high bit rate that it still sometimes get a little choppy, although The Dark Knight has about the same bit rate and plays fine. I may need to rip it again.

My only caveat about MakeMKV is that while it will include captions in the rip, Serviio can't play them. I think they are image based, if I recall something Zip said before. It also makes HUGE files, as there is very little compression applied. I'd rather have the quality myself, so I'll just add more hard drives when I need more space. I just added a 4 port SATA card to me server, so I have some expansion ports available.
