MKV working on Panasonic VT20
Connecting to the relative topic already submited by me in the samsung thread (http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3267), I post here my experience with my TV Panasonic Viera VT20 46".
Honestly I'm quite surprised of the final result but also really satisfied.
First of all must be specified that the in the TV manual is clearly explained that MKV can be run using usb stick or SD card but not trhought DLNA.
So my first test was playing mkv files using USB stick, and here I discovered 2 thinks:
1) only mkv file with uncroped hd content work fine (it mean video stream with resolution 1280x720 or 1920x1080), cropped video stream (without black bar in the stream) doesn't work fine. You can play it, but the aspect ratio is wrong and when you try to fast forward or rewing everything go bad. If you have cropped stream you can you use the freeware tools uncropmkv to fix it
2) only mkv created with MKXToolnix 3.3 or < (anyway I really suggest the version 3.3) works fine.
With mkv created in this way I can play mkv with usb stick, fast worward and rewind and change the language stream (if more than 1 in available). Also subtitle can be selected but at the end does not appear in the video (I don't investigate why).
And now the final surprise: the mkv created in this way, with servvio transcodind disabled (so i'm sendind the original mkv file) work perfectly also using dlna. And I'm also able to change the audio stream!!!!
I don't now if this is a new feature of the new pana firmware (updated some days ago) , of the last version of serviio or what else, but that's all.
