Can Serviio change aspect ratio without transcoding ?
Hello Serviio Forum,
I have several videos in the 4:3 format (widescreen in a 4:3 frame) and of course Seviio plays them onto my wide screen TV in the 4:3 format without any problem except for the black bars on each side. This is to be expected since the videos were recorded that way to start with. Is there a way to make Serviio stretch these videos out frorm left to right to fill the entire screen on my wide screen TV?
These videos in the 4:3 format were recorded using Hauppauge's HD PVR in Linux using a composite input and the composite input is limited to 4:3 format only, so these videos actually NEED to be stretched out from left to right in order to acheive the correct aspect ratio. My wide screen TV will not stretch them out and my Panasosnic Blu Ray player will not stretch them out. So I am hoping I can stretch them out in Serviio by editing or add something in the profile script.
If I play these 4:3 videos on my desktop computer, I can get the Linux video player (mplayer) to stretch them out to the correct aspect ratio with no problem. But I need them stretched out on my wide screen TV when playing the videos through Serviio. Can Serviio achieve this? I would rather these videos not be transcoded by Serviio if possible to prevent loss of quality and high CPU usage. Can Serviio achieve this?
Panasonic Blu Ray player DMP-BDT320/321
Serviio version 1.2.1
ffmpeg version 0.10.6
java version (jdk/jre) 1.6.0-r1:1.6
The videos in question have the .ts extension
My Blu Ray player uses the generic profile by default in Serviio
I am using Gentoo
Sincerely,
Roy
