.mkv / .srt - some play, some don't?

Hi guys,

I hope anyone here can help me solve a strange issue. I'm running Serviio 1.3.1-0022 on my Synology DS 213+, but it seems to do different things while playing (i suppose) identical files.

For example:

How.I.Met.Your.Mother.S09E01.720p.WEB-DL.mkv
How.I.Met.Your.Mother.S09E01.720p.WEB-DL.nl.srt

This plays fine, subtitles are selectable.

Breaking.Bad.S03E01.720p.BluRay.mkv
Breaking.Bad.S03E01.720p.BluRay.nl.srt

In this case subtitles aren't selectable. With Serviio that is, when I play it with the standard Synology Mediaserver, it let's me select 2 subtitles, English and English 2. Strangely enough, English seems to be empty.

Only difference I see is that the .mkv of Breaking Bad has subs inside the video file, but I do not understand why that would stand in the way of 'seeing' the external subs. Also, when I play it on my laptop with the video player of Synology, it does let me select all the subtitles.

Hope anyone can help me out on this, I want to understand what it depends on so I can manage this in the future. My tv is a Panasonic Viera TX-P50VT50 btw.

Greetings,

Thijs

What are your settings in Serviio Console, Delivery, Sub-titles tab. Try with only the first checkbox (Enable Subtitles) set and the other two unchecked.

Did you enter 'nl' as a preferred language? If not, you have to remove it from the srt file name

Hi guys,

Thanks for the input.

@DenyAll: This is exactly my setting.

@zip: I also have nl as preferred sub.

Any other thoughts that could resolve this?

Thanks.

Can you post a detailed log of playing the breaking bad video?
