Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

Thank you, and you even have a howto in your sig :) I turned it on, but for now, I've been just adding one part at a time, here's the part that's giving it trouble. I'll go into the debug log and see if I can make sense of it.

  Code:

         <!-- Remux MPEG-TS with no transcoding -->
         <!-- Video targetContainer="mpegts" forceInheritance="true" -->
            <!-- Matches container="avi" -->
            <!-- Matches container="wtv" -->
         </Video>

edit: Bah, I'm an idiot. You said to comment out the last line, I didn't, and here we are. Now I need to see if I need this part or not, but I think I do?

edit2: I don't need to worry about avi, I already did that, and I don't have any wtv so I guess I can comment it all out.

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

Ok so I'll run with this, and see how it does.

  Code:
   <Transcoding>

   <!-- Transcode avi to mpegts, no change to audio -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" DAR="16:9" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="avi" />
         </Video>
   <!-- Transcode flv, divx, h263, videos with unsupported audio to mpegts -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" DAR="16:9" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="flv" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="dca" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="flac" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="vorbis" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="truehd" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="real" />
            <!-- Matches container="*" vCodec="h263" -->
         </Video>
   <!-- Transcode divx, h263, videos with good audio to mpegts -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" DAR="16:9" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="aac"/>
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="ac3"/>
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="mp3"/>
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="mp2"/>
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="dvvideo" aCodec="lpcm"/>
            <!-- Matches container="*" vCodec="h263" -->
         </Video>
    <!-- transcode all MKV with unsupported audio -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" DAR="16:9" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true">
            <!-- Matches container="matroska" -->
            <Matches container="matroska"  aCodec="dca" />
            <Matches container="matroska"  aCodec="flac" />
            <Matches container="matroska"  aCodec="vorbis" />
            <Matches container="matroska"  aCodec="truehd" />
            <Matches container="matroska"  aCodec="real" />
         </Video>
    <!-- transcode all MKV with supported audio -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" DAR="16:9" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="aac" />
            <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="ac3" />
            <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="mp3" />
            <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="mp2" />
            <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="lpcm" />
         </Video>

Again, the point of this is to avoid all unnecessary transcoding, because there are so many audio sync issues with the other profiles I've tried. I'm halfway interested in learning how the transcoding process actually works, as in, what is making sure that ffdshow is synching everything up, but I doubt that even if I found the problem, it would be fixable.

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

Can you post the final copy of your profile. I have the same TV (GT50) and I love it and Serviio, but struggle through many of the same issues. There is not just one profile that cures all the the little issue with the GT50 (aspect ratio, avi issues etc) If I can get closer than what I have in place now that would be great. I do plan on trying the 2013 profile in another thread as well.

I have a large mix of file types as well. I am in the process of moving serviio of my pc and onto a server someone gave me that is pretty beefy. I am hoping to see some improved results.

This is the full profile. It's halfway copied from denyall's thing, and mostly pieced together from what he's told me. I haven't had problems yet, but I've only watched 3 or 4 things. I'll keep updating as I keep finding problems.

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

Thanks that profile does play most things but avis are kind of a mess and i got some odd stuttering i dont see with any other profile. Avis the Audio is out of sync and bad ratio. i tried denyalls with no changes and it wont play any avis at all (and i have alot) except for one. Here is an example of what it will play and one it wont from media info:

Also the aspect ratio seems way better since these are both leaving mkv and mp4 alone which the older profile i was using Panasonic Viera e/s/t/vt 2011. I think i just need to update denyalls to play avis and force ratio and i might be satisfied.

Going over my media info log of that directory its all xvid it wont play natively it seems.

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

I have the same issues with avis, but I'm not really certain how to fix it. It's the audio that's stuttering, correct? Not the video? To the test profile, try adding/changing this right under the avi part, so it will be transcoding audio as well; maybe there's some issue with keeping the audio the same and transcoding the video with avis.

I'll try this too and report back. This is what the second line of the transcoding part should say now.

  Code:
 <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" DAR="16:9" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true">

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

Well, that seems to have fixed it on several avis I've marked for being problemsome. Let us know if you have anymore avi problems. I've always gone in with the mentality that you shouldn't transcode more than needed, but really, I see no loss in quality. So I don't think it really matters if you transcode or not, as long as you have the hd space and the processing power.

edit: Not correct. I haven't had a problem with an avi file yet, but I did have a problem with an mkv file, though it is huge, as in a 2 hour movie worth 30GB. This could be my PC's processing power though. That's a large file to be transcoding.

edit: bah, huge problems. I'm still not sure about mkv files. I need to test a bunch of avis to see if there are problems with the majority of them, though there doesn't seem to be. However, all that does is confirm that we need to transcode avi video and audio always. For mkvs, I fixed a problem by simply not transcoding mkv with supported audio, though we had earlier established that mkv does not give the correct aspect ratio unless transcoded. Still, it worked for this one file. I need to just sit down and figure this out by trial and error. I'd really like to get this done once and for all.

edit3: .................. ARRRRRGH. Still massive problems with some avi sync. God I'm sick of this. I'll try to figure it out, but at this point, I just want to get it working for most files, and forget the ones that don't work.

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

Will have to try that, I went back to denyalls profile with some modifications to the avi aection and the DAR 16:9 outlined in the other thread and that was better but still alot of issues with avi audio. If you chnage does the trick I might just be satisifed with the final product.

Re: New, no idea what's wrong...

I know I edited in alot of stuff, but the avis are still giving me trouble. I need to figure out if what I did to the mkv breaks anything else, but I'm not sure that we'll ever get the avi issue solved. I've tried about everything you can do with the avis. Some work well, some don't. It still could be tied up in the audio transcoding part of it, I just need to figure out what exact codecs are working and which ones aren't.

You could help me with this, just by posting something like

works:

avi with mp4/xvid, ac-3 @448kbps

For example is something I know works. If we can get a working list of things that don't work, that might help some.
