Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Package updated with support for the Armada XP and Intel Atom CE5300 CPUs. From what I can gather, the Armada XP is just a dual or quad core version of the Armada 370 so the same binary should be fine. Libx264 is about the only thing that will use the additional cores, but it's fairly useless on ARM without NEON anyway. FFmpeg apparently has no support for the new hardware features of the Atom CE5300, so the regular Intel build of FFmpeg is used.

Cool can you run /usr/syno/bin/ffmpeg on your DS214Play and post the result here? I want to see if Synology compiled their version with OpenCL support. Thanks.

run /usr/syno/bin/ffmpeg on DS214Play and the result is as follow:

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

No OpenCL then, and apparently no VDPAU support either. Despite the marketing hype about those Intel Atom Evansport SoCs, I doubt there will be any functional transcoding benefit. Very odd that they disabled yasm too. I think Synology will just stick to using the integrated GPU to render media to this NAS's HDMI port. I can't really imagine that the FFmpeg team would spend lots of time and effort optimizing for a single GPU that's in a particular SoC. They haven't for instance added support for QuickSync in the 4th Gen Core i series CPUs.
I suppose the good news is that I don't need to release a whole new compile of FFmpeg. Four architectures for Synology is quite enough!

Can someone with a DS214 (armadaxp) check if my ARMv7 build of FFmpeg can use the two CPU cores? In the Delivery, Transcoding section of Serviio Console can you select 2 cores in the dropdown?

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Is it still possible to download version 0.6.2? The new version just won't run stable on my system and I have had it. I can live without being able to stream image-files to my tv (which was what 0.6.2 couldn't because you couldn't disable thumbnail generation for images), but I can't live with having to enter dlna on my tv 10-15 times, trying to play a file 10-15 times only to have it drop connection randomly.

Please help me downgrade, please :)

I have been trawling the net for the good old 0.6.2 package, but it's nowhere to be found. All links redirect to the 1.3.1 blog-page.

Please help!

I've put that old version here:
http://packages.pcloadletter.co.uk/down ... ed-009.spk

Download it on your computer and manually install it via DSM Package Center.

I don't have enough hosting space for all the various builds of FFmpeg that go with these different versions, so I put this particular one Dropbox. The script will fetch it automatically.

Re: PACKAGE: Serviio 1.3.1 - Synology NAS (ARMv5&v7 Intel Qo

Installed the good old version, and everything's running smoothly again. Thank you very much.

I have given the issues I've experienced a lot of thought, and I think the reason why it has been so unstable here has to do with my very weak NAS - it's a DS411j. I think the new 1.3.1 is more resource intensive, and that is what is causing my tv to loose connection all the time. Even the 0.6.2 behaves in a similar way if I'm doing file transfers or even just browsing files on the nas while it's serving files to my tv.

Package Center shows you the change description I type in, and I also put it on my blog page - I updated FFmpeg to stable release version 2.1, rather than some daily snapshot that I had used before. The stable builds don't come out very regularly (about once a quarter) and I had needed features that were newer than the last stable release for libshine, hence why I used a snapshot. Since a decent stable version is now out, it's a good idea to use that.

Hi,
first, Thanks for your great program.

I am new here.

can you share the build 1.3.1-0020 spk file? I used this one for some time in my DS 212j. Did the update to 1.3.1-0023, all the online streams are broken. want to go back to 0020 build, but can't find the spk file for download. if you can share that file here.

Thanks a lot !

Which NAS do you have? The FFmpeg build will be the only difference, but I don't have enough hosting space for various different versions. So I'd rather figure out the problem with the current one.

I am experiencing the same problem. However I also note that their are official versions of Jave 6 & & available as is Serviio 1.4. Does this mean that it is acceptable to use these in lieu of the PCLOADLETTER packages?

Hi,

I already opened a thread on this section but no reply yet.
Can someone help me in installating/setting up serviio on a DS409+ ?

I can't find any tutorial or "how to" for this "old" model.

Regards.
