Unsuccessful using SERVIIO with NAS

I have a Western Digital MyCloud NAS and I have been trying to get it to work with SERVIIO. I ran across a apparently simple way to do this on YOUTUBE "Serviio Media Server Online Sources Link NAS" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbjjjEOvApw.
In this video the author is doing eactly what I want and very simply.

Specifically, as admin, I ran mklink /d "c:\Video" " \\192.168.0.XXX\Videos" command and the link shows up as "C:\Videos" for my Windows 11 Pro computer BUT SERVIIO can't find the link unlike what was shown in the YOUTUBE clip. Granted the clip is 5 years old....

My sequence of trying is running Serviio PRO v2.5, stopping and starting the server, go to Library->Shared Folders, check VIDEO box and BROWSE for the C:\Video link. Which does not show up in Serviio. Again, this link works from File Explorer but is not in the BROWSE list in Serviio Shared Folders.

I have looked at permissions and they seem OK.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Re: Unsuccessful using SERVIIO with NAS

If the NAS is trying to access the media from another networked device, then it's usually a permissions issue on the networked device. In this case it's Windows, so you need to ensure the C:\Videos folder is shared, and then the share AND folder permissions must be set correctly. If the NAS is trying to connect to the Windows share without user credentials (i.e. as a guest), then both the share permissions and the folder permissions must both be set to allow guest read access. On Windows, you have to set it on the File properties panel, then both under sharing (first set of permissions) and under Security (second set of permissions)
