Re: Android Console

Hi, Just installed the latest beta and at the prompt to enter my forum username, I wasn't able to enter it. The keyboard would popup, but typing would not show anything in the input field.

There is also a typo in Settings -> Library -> Update interval. The description should say "minutes" instead of "minuets".

Other than that, the new changes are working nicely.

Great Job!

Hmm thats odd. Which keyboard are you using? I've tried it on a few emulators and on my phone with an alternative keyboard and they all worked. Did anyway else have that problem?

There is also a typo

Thanks, i'll fix that now.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like it.

EDIT: Device management will not work when 'Hide unknown devices' is turned on. It will be fixed soon.

I'm using SwiftKey X, I can't find anywhere to try again. It only asked me after installation.

Re: Android Console

I had the same issue, I'm using swype keyboard (probably the best android swipe keyboard and most popular)

I closed it down and tried again, then it allowed me to enter the username

Re: Android Console

Worked fine for me with SwiftKeyX.
I'll add it as a preference so you can re-enter it.

Re: Android Console

I've done a new release to fix the issues reported. Beta 12

If you had already downloaded beta 11 then do still update, as it will help me with download stats/working out who is using what.

  Code:
*Added option to change/re-enter forum username via preferences
*Fixed #26: Edit/deleting devices moddifies the wrong device when 'Hide unknown devices' is turned on
*Fixed typo in settings

Please report any other issues/request any additional features. Should hopefully be ready for a release candidate soon.

Also don't forget to submit app name and icon ideas (see first post for full details).

Thank you again for the feedback.

Re: Android Console

I like the last one. :-)

Think I will stay away from starting with 'i' because people might think its an iOS app.

Keep them coming :-)

Re: Android Console

I just installed beta 12

I have short click item to "Do Nothing", on the presentation visiliby tab it allows me to edit the values

I definately think there should be user preference for Presentation Visibility, if they want it as tab or have in the settings under Presentation
Presentaion is one of those setting you hardly change once you have set it. its abit overkill for me having it as the main tabs

So user preference can be:

View Presentation Visibilty
- As a Tab
- In the setting
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM

Re: Android Console

could the version number be added to the front page (server login page) then be easier to track what version user is running.

Well this is precisely one of the reasons why I'm doing so many releases and forcing changes on users. I want them to try things out and give me feedback on usability aspects, not just bugs.

I will investiage how much of a pain/how messy the code will be to have it optional. However I think I've decided to move it back and change the settings tab to 'Advanced' and have the following under it
=== some form of seperator with the word 'Extra' or similar ===
Presentation
=== some form of seperator with the word 'Settings'===
Library
Transcoding
Metadata
Presentation

Any thoughts?

could the version number be added to the front page (server login page) then be easier to track what version user is running.

Yes I gues so, its under about though.

As a general question, how long is it taking before you get notified of the update from the app? I think it preseves its state a bit too much, ie will only do a check quite rarely. Its obviously hard for me to test becaues I'm always installing new versions.

@User with the A101IT - please could you enter your forum username and give me a few more details about the crash.

Re: Android Console

Here is my first (very quick and not very creative) attempt at a logo. Something that has elements of the serviio logo, but not all of it. I'm sure some of you could do much better than that though. Maybe add a very simple looking remote control in one of the arms? Or something completely different.

Note using the android robot is fine as google has licenced it under a CC atribution licence. If you use any other images, make sure I can use them.

Re: Android Console

This is the icon i use for my main Serviio build, in a way completely different to the serviio's icon
It has shadows as if the serviio logo is hovering a sleek metal sheet

Image

About the presentation location, put it all in one "Presentation" in the setting, putting the advanced presentatiion setting at the botton of the visibity options, just like the Windows console, easier for anyone moving from the windows console to the android version

I'm trying that at the moment, but android does not like having multiple scrollable lists in one view which is why I didn't in the first place :(

Re: Android Console

An hour later and I cannot add two simple lists together so that they scroll properly so for now how about what I had originally?

Settings tab:
Library
Transcoding
Metadata
Presentation <---------- Browsing categories
Presentation (extra) <------------ two remaining options
