Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Some 2.0.2 feedback:

1. With theme set to light
swiping the left hand browse menu turns it white and content is lost

2. image viewer .. kudos .. titles only display first time phto is shown. is this by design

3. folder views.. folders display with titles on 2 ~18 character lines to the right of the folder icon and number of items in smaller case below. files display with titles on 2 ~ 36 character lines below the thumbnail. This results in many of my folder titles being truncated. There is sufficient room to either move the folder icon up and put the title under and have the same look and title length as the files, or use 4 ~ 18 chacter lines to the right of the folder icon. Also the line splitting algorithm need fixing. Example:
Tron.Legacy.3D.2010.ENG.
DTS.1080p.3DBD.x264.half.SBS.z.ma...
should have split as
Tron.Legacy.3D.2010.ENG.DTS.1080p.
3DBD.x264.half.SBS.z.man.mkv
Might also consider using the smaller font size as currently used with the source folder title in the top line, for the folder/video titles and using current folder/video title font size instead of the very large font used for the folder list to the left. That would make the left folder list consistent with the left hand browser menu font. I find the current look too crowded with big letters and the resulting truncations.

4. From a human facors perspective, screens should be consistent, so I would suggest on the files in the folder view, that you show the video time on line 1, HD on line 2 and the date on line 3 to be consistent with the order on the file detail view.

Hope that helps..great job!

The fast forwarding issues was due to the resolution. I was using the medium resolution version. Thanks for explaining it to me!

Great product!

OK, I'll look into that but it might be a bug with the OS. Does it happen everytime or just some of the time?

Could you post a screen shot, it works for me. Which andorid version is it under, and what device?

2. image viewer .. kudos .. titles only display first time phto is shown. is this by design

As in the titles that get covered up by images? They are only removed when the image is there. If you swipe away 5+ images then come back, they should very briefly show during the load process, or not at all if you have a fast device.

3. folder views.. folders display with titles on 2 ~18 character lines to the right of the folder icon and number of items in smaller case below. files display with titles on 2 ~ 36 character lines below the thumbnail. OK, i'll add an extra line or two. Most of the problem revolves around the title length being variable and having mix of content. I need to go over all of the row views again and sort them out once and for all.
For the line splitting, I don't think there is much I can do unless I write my own, long filenames with no spaces are always a pain.

4. From a human facors perspective, screens should be consistent, so I would suggest on the files in the folder view, that you show the video time on line 1, HD on line 2 and the date on line 3 to be consistent with the order on the file detail view.

OK, i'll look at the ordering. I've got a few other changes in mind, I just wanted to get 2.0 out. And yes, thank you for the feedback :)

I don't know how to do a screen shot but here is the sequence.
1. with dark theme, open settings and select light.
2. sg restarts and the menu displays in light
3. swipe left edge to right and browse menu appears in dark theme
4. swipe browse menu up or down and all the active boxes under Browse turn white with black lines between them. Browse and the space below the used boxes(if any) stay black.
5. if i hold down one of the white boxes it turns dark again, and initiates the action in that box.
6. repeat from 3.

2. image viewer .. kudos .. titles only display first time phto is shown. is this by design

OK I get it. If the image is in the buffer it loads so fast it wipes out the text.

That is very odd. Does it really only happen under the light theme? On ICS+ you press volume down and power to take a screenshot.

What device and which android version? Give me as much info and I'll try and find someone else with the problem, otherwise no idea what it could be.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

I'm currently doing some work on a built in video player for ServiiGo, mainly to support seeking for Low and Medium qualities. It uses the built in media framework, rather than using its own so supported devices is quite limited (I have to start somewhere though). It works on my Nexus 7 and Sony Google TV, but not on my HTC One S since it's update to JB and doesn't work on my partners GS III. If you have a different device to one of these (or have one and want to to confirm it works/doesn't), let me know if you can help test it out. There is a simple on/off switch in the settings so if it doesn't work you can simply turn it off.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Sorry, I forgot to say I have a NEXTBOOK 7SE with Android 3.2 and it always worked fine with Serviio up to 1.3 Beta. Only difference is that I have to install Google Play since Google does not support this tab.

I'd be happy to test your new beta as well.

If you cannot do a screenshot, can you take a photo of it. Depending on what is white it might help track down the problem.

it does happen every time on the Razr Maxx (two phones both Verizon)
Don't worry about it. If I had to guess it has something to do with Verizon lock down on the OS. The phone is not rooted. The app behaves properly on every other device I've tried. (ASUS transformer and a couple of Samsung phones) Thanks. You have bigger fish waiting to Fry.

Sorry but I'm away and don't have camera access. All that turns white is the interior of the boxes in the browse menu as below and the lines shown below are black. (The second | is at the right edge)

Could you try to re-phrase your question, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Maybe describe before/after, or post a screenshot of what you see at the moment, and explain how it would look with your change.

Ah ok, not at the moment, waiting on this to be added to Serviio first https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... thumbnails

Is there a reason you don't use the Series view for accessing tv shows?

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Having a problem with streaming MP3s to ServiiGo, and was hoping to get help fixing it.

Short synopsis: Serviio Pro 1.1 installed, transcoding enabled and set to subdirectory of System temp directory. ServiiGo 2.0.3 installed on Note 2 device; can login and browse content fine. Local testing with Wi-Fi enabled produces good playback of either audio or video content.

My problem is occurring when I switch to the 3G network and attempt to stream anything. My carrier has less than stellar 3G speeds, and I've tried unsuccessfully to get Serviio to transcode content so it has a smaller bitrate. Any stream I attempt while on 3G starts, stops, starts, and continues that way acting like it is constantly buffering a large file. Occasionally it will stop trying and produce the red Unknown Error message, like the stream transfer failed.

I've toggled transcoding on as mentioned, and attempted to put the 'aBitrate' flag in the appropriate place for ServiiGo (within the application-profiles.xml file) and restart Serviio's service, but nothing seems to work. I watch when I start a stream, and no files ever show up in the transcoded files location set for Serviio. That tells me it isn't transcoding the MP3s, and the bitrate is still at default (192?). I really need to downsample for 3G with ServiiGo, but am apparently failing at the task.

Help would definitely be appreciated.
