Re: Android Console

OK I'll look into a way to control presentation options then.

I like the idea of profiles, that will definitely go on the list and I'll do that when I implement the automatic configuration.

Out of what is listed on the first post, what do people want implementing first?

Presentation gets my vote :D

Have you thought about starting a redmine page for this console?
It will be so much easier to track progress, features, wish list, bugs ect

Re: Android Console

I'll setup something publicly visible when I get a chance. Might as well use bit bucket as that is what people will be used to.

Re: Android Console

Looks brilliant Will. Shame I don't have Android (WP7 lover here ;-) ). I'll add it to the download page if you want once it's finished (along with some screenshots).

Re: Android Console

Thanks. Yes that would be good. I want to go through a few more beta versions so that the app responds correctly to server responses and timeouts and add autoconnect/re-done first run experience at a minimum before the first propper release. I'll then continue to add the missing features. I need to update the screenshots as the new item has moved and there is a typo in the transcoding settings page.

Re: Android Console

You don't, the data is uploaded to a google docs spreadsheet without you doing anything. I'll try to find a read only link for those who are interested.
When did it crash, I don't have one from this evening?

Thinking of installing Android on my Touchpad

Even though im not a big iOS fan it would be great if this can be ported to Apple products

Let me know when your ready for me to test :D

If you're not running CM7 on that TP you're missing out.

I'll be testing this on mine.

Re: Android Console

Looking over everything on the Touchpad, nothing immediately strikes me as being "off" or missing. It actually looks good and scales well, which is nice on a 4:3 screen. Some apps are optimized for 16:9 which can make them look like crap on the TP (pun not intended).

This is a brilliant app and will immediately replace my use of the web interface.

I'll keep using it and will post back if anything useful occurs to me.

Thanks for the effort!

Re: Android Console

Can I you post a few screenshots of it. Thanks, there should be a new update in the next week. What server version are you running?
Edit: can you post the screenshots and any comments you have along with TP screen resolution in the Tablet UI issue on bitbucket please.

Re: Android Console

Thats what I expected from my 3.0/3.2 and 4.0 emulators with tablet size screens.

I don't like the big gaps due to the wide screen.

For tablets, you could probably combine some of the screens. I just don't know what additional functionality you're really going to squeeze in there to make better use of the dead space.

Realistically, I see my main uses of this app being to Start/Stop the server, Force Refresh, and on occasion to add an additional Shared Folder on the fly. Once you have your configuration options set for the devices and transcoding, you shouldn't really need to muck around with them a whole lot. It's nice having the option, though.

I wonder if you might want to consider combing the core functions onto one screen, since there's obviously enough room for that. And I wouldn't call this a "feature request" so much as "just another suggestion", but maybe consider adding a tab/button/screen for browsing the shares?

Another thing to consider is Landscape mode. I don't know how the majority of tablet users use their tablets - I only have my own experience to work off of. But for me, I'd say I work in landscape more than portrait. In landscape mode, you have enough screen space to put at least 3 of your dedicated tabs on a single tab instead.

Like I said earlier, I'm going to use it for a bit. Maybe some potentially useful ideas will pop into my mind as I do.

Re: Android Console

I agree, if two are combined, it will also match the windows console

ie, Status and Devices togther
with Shared Drives and Online Sources togther

Re: Android Console

I'll play around with some ideas and post the possible mock ups once I get 1.0 released.

Who has the GT-I9100? Out of the 4 crash reports not caused by me, you have generated 3. Can you tell me some more information so I can fix it. Are you connecting over wifi or are you using 3g to a forwarded port? Or is your wifi connection really weak? Are you using it a lot and it only crashes a little or has it done it every time. Plus anything extra you can think of.

Re: Android Console

That would be me! :D on my Samsung Galaxy S2 on 0.6.0.1 using beta 4
I remember getting crash when enabling "hide unrecognised item", when te console was refreshing, it crashed, I had this issue with previous beta

the other crash happened when I was out of range of my WiFi router when starting the app. Tried to start app again and gave me warning message could not find server which is suppose to. I see you already fixed this in beta 5!

I'll note down if I get any issues
