I've had similar problem, ffmpeg -i would say librtmp is enabled on my QNAP NAS build and 4OD wasn't working
KiefOS kindly compiled librtmp 0.99 pre5 that worked really well for us Qnappers!

Is anyone still running 0.6.1, could it be it got broken in 0.6.2?

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

Hi hi,

Just in case anyone queries it, I actually compiled version 2.4 of rtmpdump, but using 0.99 pre 5 of polarSSL.

Also noticed there is now version 0.10 of ffmpeg, I may give that a go and see if it improves things?

Will let you know if I get any success...

I'm running the latest stable 0.10 and its less frequent than 0.9

what could be the cause?

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

I have the latest ffmpeg and I thought I'd cracked it but it depends on the program. Grand Designs for example, some episodes play perfectly, some bomb out after 2 minutes. I can't see a pattern except that if its going to fail it always seems to do it after about 2 mins.

I'd blame it on Hawaiian dust mites. Apparently their microscopic hula hoops disrupt the bit stream causing ffmpeg to crash! :D

On a serious note, if you check the temporary folder which serviio uses to play the transcoded content, it would be interesting to know if it bombs at exactly the same point each time for the same program. ie. is the final file size the same each time.

I seem to recall when I was having this issue (using ffmpeg 0.9, now using 0.10) it was similar each time, not necessarily 2 minutes, but as has been said it depends on the show you are watching. I will try some grand designs episodes to see if I get the same. I'm pretty sure I didn't see anything in the serviio logs, but this issue didn't happen for me at all in 0.6.1 so not sure where the blame lies...

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

@Cerberus - your telling me you dont get any issues?

Im starting to wonder what can be the cause, theres posts saying it was working all fine in 0.6.1, but then some say the issue was still there, theres post saying use the latest ffmpeg but im getting the same issue with ffmpeg 0.10

4OD now become the plugin i most watch (those gypsies are fascinating to watch) since iplayer only gives a handful of programs to choose from the rss feeds

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

I think the problem with diagnosing this issue is mainly to do with the factors involved. The only common entity you can go by is Serviio, be it version 0.6.1 or 0.6.2. That is always the same, but then you have got what platform it is running under, the build of ffmpeg being used and even the device it's being played on a network that feeds it. It also seems the case with 4OD that the issue is also dependant on the video stream being watched.

The other thing with ffmpeg version is just because I compiled 0.10, doesn't mean that the same options and compiler was used when other people compiled it.

From a bug reporting view it would simpler if the standard windows build was used without modification, and if people posted exact episodes that fail and how long it takes to fail then it could be compared to see if the same result happens on different setups.

Also doesn't your PS3 and possible your TV natively do 4OD and Iplayer?

My PS3 is jailbroken :D so can't go online. I've seen 4oD my Xbox 360 and iPad but seems to be much lower res compared to what Serviio produces, and the most annoying is the amount of adverts you get.

IPlayer app on Bravia is sluggish to watch a programme and it's low res even if you choose "high quality". With Serviio the video quality is so crisp I just wish there was more content than the rss feeds.

Ok will do testing on the Windows version with the stock ffmpeg provided by zip.

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

you should see what bbc iplayer and 4od looks like on the wdtv live hehe awesomeness personified :) the only issue i had with it was it was transcoding or remuxing all online content even though it plays every file format and container natively so i just deleted all the transcoding in the profile and bam all good :)

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

Tried installing windows 0.6.1 and still no luck, it bombs out randomly
Im sure a month ago 4oD was working fine, has anything changed?

Update: its not a Serviio issue, just checked the XBMC forum which most of the source this plugin originates from. And they are having the same problems. It seems the swf player was changed!!

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

I found the fix!! :D if your still running the old January 4oD plugin please amend it as 4oD revised their swf player
final SWF_PLAYER = 'http://www.channel4.com/static/programmes/asset/flash/swf/4odplayer-11.8.5.swf'
To
  Code:
final SWF_PLAYER = 'http://www.channel4.com/static/programmes/asset/flash/swf/4odplayer-11.21.2.swf'

Hope we can see an update from zip very soon ;)
