Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

Hi, hope you can help with my 4od problem ...

I've set it up as follows:
Source Type = web resource
Source URL = http://www.channel4.com/programmes/loca ... cation/4od
Display name = 4od
Media type = video

The 4od plugin is in the Plugin folder .... I've 'saved' and "forced a library reset" ... but still nothing on the TV (Panasonic).

I've used Location-Location as an example ....

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

I have been experimenting with Homeland on my Sony Bravio.

I can stream some some episodes but others appear to time out.. Is there any way of increasing the time out period.

Are you sure you've got the updated 4oD plugin that zip updated this month?
It fixes the timeout as the original plugin was using an old 4oD swf player

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

I've just registered on the forum to say thanks for such a great product and plugin! My PVR didn't record Homeland the other week (there's a slim possibility I forgot to tell it, but that's unlikely) and I was resigned to having to watch it on the 4OD website on my laptop. When I realised my new Win7 laptop could see my telly I thought something might be possible, 5 minutes of Googling and I found this site, 5 minutes later and I'm streaming 4OD to my telly!

Thanks for a great product which just works - how it should be!

Xmantium - sorry for the delay, but answers are:
System - Vista Home Premium SP2
In the UK - yes
working plugins
- the only plug in that I have got working fully are YouTube standard feeds, eg most viewed
- I have partial success on some of the streams - in that they appear on the TV (Panasonic Viera - DT30 model) - but it seems that it will only play the first thing I select after that I get various error messages after waiting for about 30 seconds..
- I can't get any other YouTube channels etc to
- The iPlayer doesn't seem to work as set up - HAVE NOW GOT THIS TO WORK USING "FEEDS" URL and "POPULAR"
- 4od doesn't seem to work as set up

I'm sure I am doing something wrong - but it isn't at all clear to me !!!

I've attached the latest log - where I can see lots of error messages, but don't know what action to take.

Thanks ...

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

Hello,

I've got Serviio installed on FreeNAS 8.0.3 on a HP N40L MicroServer with the 4OD plugin installed, it allows me to add the web resource and then will produce a folder on my DLNA view but there is no content within the folder?

This problem is not present with RSS feeds such as live streams or the iPlayer or YouTube plugin.

I get a whole mess of these;

  Code:

Just dug a little more, I'm getting the handshake issue. Is there a fix for this?

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

I've had few instances where playing a 4oD file would not start, if you try to another file on the list and then go back to the original file it normally works, it's a hit and miss sometimes.
There could be some timeout bugs

@lewisj - I've had similar issue with Serviio on my NAS server because ffmpeg was not compiled properly with librtmp enabled, to test this try to see if you can get Jhb50 live stream folders to work, HD_channels and HD_networks rely heavy on librtmp, If you don't see most of those channels listed then your 4oD plugin will also show empty as you not compiled ffmpeg properly.

Re: 4OD (UK only) - Web Resource

There was a fix in the last version (2.4) of librtmp that added support for type 9 handshakes so it could be that, also you are using 0.7.1 of ffmpeg and there have been a fair few fixes regarding streaming since that version. The recommended version is 0.9 which you can get the source from the homepage, but as Xmantium said,, it's a can be a bit fiddly to compile.

@Steveaj

One error in the log is suggesting you don't have the 4OD plugin installed, the other is because 40D conect doesn't work using Youtube. Are you using the latest 4OD plugin and serviio install? I remember having similar issues a while back, but that was because of a badly compiled ffmpeg/rtmp, but I can't see in the log file ffmpeg failing so don't think it's that.

I definately have the Channel40D groovy plugin ... just to be sure I have downloaded it again. I am also running 0.6.2.

Just tried again and get the following error message in my log file:

YouTube and iPlayer seem to work fine. I assume I should be using the RSS Feed option !

Just tried again with another programme and got the following this time:

Well I don't know if it's just me, but my 4od has started bombing out again after a short while or just not playing.

It looks like Channel 4 have upgraded their player again.

http://www.channel4.com/static/programm ... 1.21.2.swf, is no longer accessible, but the following is:-

http://www.channel4.com/static/programm ... 1.23.4.swf

Changing this in the 40d plugin appears to have sorted the issue for me...

Just tried updating, I still cannot watch 4oD (I haven't been able to for a long time, not sure if I ever could all the way through actually), dies after a few min of video. I'll try and investigate it over the weekend now that I have some free time.
