Always run in the background for mac?

I know there are a lot of programs that do this - always run in the background with only a menubar showing. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky but it would be nice not to have 2 dock icons (Serviio and Serviio Console) always showing.

For 0.6, clicking on the server icon will run it in background without the icon showing (I think, haven't started the work yet) and only the console icon will show up in the dock
