Cache transcoding of online media

I have spent months searching for a functional UPNP media server, and i have probably tested all that is there in market. I event installed Serviio and passed by for lack of online media support.

With the launch of 0.6, it is the only one that really functions! I have tried some highly regarded ones that just don't work (not that donno how to make them to, they are just simply broken). Yet there are some commercial ones that do work and have some nice features.

Since as of today Serviio is going to be my server of choice, i thought i should propose a couple of features that would make it better and even more popular.

The first on my list is a mechanism to cache the transcoded data of a stream. Of course that would be coupled with a setting for duration to cache.

if i understand what your saying this is already done now for transcoded files they are cached to a tempory director and then passed to the renderer.

Re: Cache transcoding of online media

do you mean more of transcoded files? only those last player by a device are cached - and people are still complaining that FFmpeg runs till the end.
