IPTV support

Serviio works like a charm. But I'd like to be able to stream iptv over dlna. Is it possible? for example by adding playlists to library.
The most important feature for me is to switch audio stream, both in iptv and regular video

What do you mean by IPTV? Streming from online sources? Or streaming outside local network?

Ad audio, I presume if the player can do it (e.g. pick up different track from mkv) then it's already there.

Re: IPTV support

Well, I mean multicasting.
Also forgot to mention that I am using Samsung LE40B653. And i cannot change audio stream while watching videos over dlna. But this feature works perfectly while using usb

Re: IPTV support

Multicasting to the net? Like justin.tv, veetle.com, etc?

Some of the function that the TV offers via usb is not supported by (their) dlna implementation.

Re: IPTV support

Or do you mean being able to forward the stream from PC TV players like the BBC iPlayer?

Re: IPTV support

@Britinva
That's exactly what I'd like to do: forward the iPlayer display on my laptop to my Panasonic Viera DLNA TV via my home LAN instead of via the VGA and audio cables that I currently have to use. Can Serviio achieve this?

Re: IPTV support

Not at the moment. iPlayer folks also put in some restrictions so that the stream can only be viewed by applications they approve. I think XMBC stopped working with iPlayer recently.

Re: IPTV support

How about getting Serviio to display in real time on the TV whatever is being displayed on my PC screen: possible?

Re: IPTV support

maybe if you manage to make FFmpeg stream it. But wouldn't you just connect the PC via a cable? ;-)

Re: IPTV support

PC is 50m away in another room. Using laptop is clunky & untidy. I'll look at FFmpeg, about which I know nothing (= a bad start for someone with a small brain)

Re: IPTV support

what do you need it for? screen cast what you're doing, e.g. typying a document or do you intend to play a video on the laptop and watch on the TV?

Re: IPTV support

Well - I guess this would be hughe step for serviio and I also do support this - knowing that it wont be easy.
I already requested this for JRMC (which is my Audio/Video/Pic Manager) and put some screenshorts of TeamMedia Portal here as a good example here:
http://www.pix01.com/gallery/5775C91F-C ... o_Config/#

TeamMedia Portal isn't DLNA, but the Online Video plugin is super cool. It allows you to use all the free content of the internet:
http://tvthek.orf.at/
http://www.3sat.de/nano/nano_titel.html
... and 100!reds more like MTV, GoTV, ZDF, BBC, ...
directly integrated into the Player.

It uses XML files in order to define/configure where to find streams and programms for each Provider.

Re: IPTV support

Hi!

Is it possible to forward IPTV MPEG4 stream with VLC like play list to DLNA able device.

I can acess IPTV streams normaly from my PC with a diffrent LAN card in MULTICAST range.

For DLNA Playback I will use Samsung 6 Series LCD TV.

Example from VLC:

#EXTINF:48,FOX Life
#EXTTV:FOXLIFE
udp://@232.4.2.18:5002

tnx Grga

Re: IPTV support

IPTV would be an excellent feature to add. Shame about BBC restrictions, as Panasonic refuse to add BBC iPlayer to the streaming part of their TV's if they are Freesat enabled, even if you are not using it! :x

Would be good to be able to add others though like 4OD, ITV iPlayer to devices that do not have them in their lists (Sony BDP Blu-ray players for example).

Re: IPTV support

I would like to use serviio for live streams from sites like justin.tv, gomtv.net (Starcraft II) as well as streams from sopcast. At the moment I need to download the archived files and share those which is not optimal :).

Maybe serviio could have a simple plugin system that can give it a list of available videos and the http address of the selected video.

Re: IPTV support

Would it be possible to make it fully configurable per device? So "channels" could be added and removed as required.

Also if individual users wished to add the beeb iPlayer they could with no come back on the author of Serviio! :)

It is my intention, I just need to know what types of streams there are and people are using, so that I can add support for them

safe ones to add that wont cause issues in long run: Hulu, BBC iPlayer, Joost, CBS, NBC, The WB, TV.com, ESPN, NFL, Comedy Central, South Park, Marvel, The Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel.

just one thing though i think u would have legal issues in certain country if you add justin.tv and gomtv.net has bad reliability issues and is not supported in certain countries..

I would like:

BBC iPlayer
ITV iPlayer
4OD
Sky Player

Not sure Sky Player is possible as its strict install on one device only.
