Playing from Folders

Hi,

I've been using Serviio for a bit over a year now, and have recently just upgraded to 1.x to try out playlists, which were the main missing feature for me. I'll be upgrading to Pro this week. Thanks for the great product!

I'd be interested in a few additions as far as media browsing and playback go:

1. When playing from the Last Played lists, you basically end up in a loop of the last two items played. (It plays the last played then the next, but the list updates and so the third item is the se as the first item). It would be nice if selecting an item caused the playback order to traverse to the files actual location instead of staying in this virtual folder.
2. It would be nice to be able to disable auto playback of the next item. I have kids and don't want them to sit in front of the TV all day, which they will happily do if Serviio keeps playing items for them. I could see this being an option at the library/folder level - ie okay to auto advance on videos in folder X but not Y.
3. It would be nice to add virtual folders to the actual folders for music playback to allow playback of All or Shuffle and Play All. Basically I would like to be able to shuffle and play all of the files in a subfolder (artist and album) or playlist.

I think points 2 and 3 should, and in many cases are, features on the device. Look in their menu for playback options.

I have the ability to shuffle on one (of three) devices in my home. I don't see a way to disable auto-advancing on any of them, and certainly not by folder or media type. For that matter I don't see a way to playback all the albums for an artist or genre (all the subfolders within a folder) let alone to do so randomly once initiated from any if my devices.

But then, I've been amazed at how poorly DLNA has been implemented by Sony (my devices) for some time now, so I shouldn't be too surprised that other manufacturers are doing it better.

Anyway, both seemed to be reasonable feature requests that would improve usability (IMO) especially from TV interfaces. Maybe my hardware is worse than the majority.

I was also playing with online resources. I was not quite sure having scanned that forum if this was previously requested, but it would be nice to be able to group feeds. A simple implementation might be to parse / or \ as delimiters if used in the name. As it is, I named my feeds <Source>\<Feed> ie Hulu\Family Guy. A second option would be to allow users to create arbitrary groups of online resources and to add/name them from the Display settings in the console.

At a minimum it would be nice to allow sorting of the list of feeds (either manually or automated ie alphabetically).

On my Brava TV you can select playback options like continuous playback.

You can move online sources up and down in the console, which should then show in the same order on the device.
