Whats the Diff?

I would just like to know exactly what the difference is between the 2

(A) seems to work better, does (B) actually start the service?

Re: Whats the Diff?

Yes and its a good question that hopefully Zip will answer. I've suggested in the past that the console buttons be renamed "Pause Server" and "Resume Server" because I think they just suspend the running Server actions while "Stopped"..I mean Paused.

Re: Whats the Diff?

B) Controls just the DLNA server which communicates with devices.

The DLNA server, runs inside A) which is also responsiable for finding files, adding them to the library, checking for metadata and comunicating the the console (rest server), fetching online sources etc....

Restarting B) the dlna server (along with removing serviio from your device's list of servers) should fix most intermittent communication problems as the server will dissapear from devices and then reapear, and you should try that first. Restarting A) restarts everything (re-bind to network card, restart rest server, dlna server, re-check files, resets and then fetches online sources, reloads profiles)

Re: Whats the Diff?

On the odd occasion i might turn on my pc before my router, ergo my serviio is not operable on my c650, unless I start it with (A). I understand that (B) is more of a pause function otherwise i wouldnt have to get off the couch and goto my computer. I could start the service from my android, which it seems starts and stops using (B) also.. This is the main reason i opened the thred

Android app with (A)... game over

Re: Whats the Diff?

The reason A) is not an option from ServiiDroid, is that once you turn it off, there is no way to turn it back on remotely.

But yes you will proably need to use A) if your network isn't up when serviio starts. I'm not sure on the internal implementation, it might help if you set the IP address in the console, but I assume serviio is getting a list of the available active network cards.

I would recommend you simply keep your router on.
