The one in the livingroom which gets used all the time is hardwired to a switch and then to the router. It is connected to my TV via HDMI. All my movies are stored on a NAS type drive and cataloged with Movie Collector. Since I have about 900 DVD's I got really tired trying to store them all in my house. They take up a ton of room. I have them converted to Xvid type video file and I stream them to my Sony box for viewing. I don't recommend hooking up a streaming box via WiFi as I did find some lag in playback also when the microwave was on the movie would stop. I still prefer a hard connecting whenever possible. IMHO WiFi is for portable devices like tablets, iPods, Netbooks.

(I don't think that the WIFI is even available on my generation.) That being said. I'm expecting my Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku2 sometime this week. So I'll check out those WIFI and streaming capabilities. But for what I paid and the custom firmware on the WDHDTV, hands down one of my more favorite toys in the house. =] DLNA FTW!!!
