Folder view - sort by name?

Is there a way to make it so the file list is sorted by name vs date when your viewing content by folder?

I have a Vizio M701d-A3 TV. I was using WMP12 as my DLNA server and when I viewed the files using that, it sorts the folders by name and the contents by name. It appears serviio sorts by file create date.

I'm using a hacked up PS3 profile as I wasn't 100% clear on how to setup a proper profile for my TV that would allow it to transcode anything but avi files with xvid/H264 codec in them and that profile got me the closest after making a few adjustments to it. My TV supports avi files with xvid and H264 (mpeg4)/ac3 or mp3 audio codecs, so I was trying to figure out how to get the profile to allow it to not transcode these as that is what I have encoded all my videos into. Which has been a real pain since avi files that are larger than 4G are not supported... which leaves me stuck ripping blue-rays at not as high a quality as I"d like or I have to split the files at 4g which then names them with -01, -02, -03 on the end of the file. I also have a few TV shows that have a naming convention like S01E01, S01E02 and so on. When ordered by name, these files list out in a usable order.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you give an example of file names and sort order? If I remember well, it should sort by file name (in the Folders category)

Re: Folder view - sort by name?

Actually, I may have spoke too soon. I may have been looking at the "latest added" list instead.

I've redone my entire library and it appears to be listing the files out in alpha order now

I've reworked my profiles as I've purchased two new 3d br players so I could view my movies from my living and bedroom, but didn't have to deal with two different file format sets. I bought the sony BDP-S5100 for each room even though I only have 3d in my living room. Works really well. Fortunately, the BR players can handle mp4 containers, so I'm not as limited by size as I was with 4G avi's. However, they don't handle the h264 codec in my ripped avi's (which is what I've been doing with my blu-rays). So those files transcode now. Well, after picking the Sony 2013 profile they do.

The interface is nicer and quicker as well than on my vizio . Not sure if this is due to me rebuilding my entire library or if I was just looking in the wrong place before. Has been a real battle ripping my blu-rays... my PC just doesn't have the chops for it and I was spoiled with the 30-40 minute rips of all my dvd's. Some of these blurays have taken 4+ hours to rip. I've been on vaca for two weeks and I'm on my last 3 discs now. Have learned a lot, but I'm pretty sure I haven't even scratched the surface of what there is to know about having your own media on a network.
