Samsung D Series & Cinavia?

Hi Guys,

I have been using PMS for years and not had an issue until Cinavia audio copyright watermark has come into being.

I am now trying to play movies through my D5520 Sammy. Just wondering if anyone has found whether Cinavia is still an issue playing straight through the TV.

I'm basically asking if the Samsung D series TV's have Cinavia support or not?

Cheers in advance.

The Samsung C series BR have firmware that implements this so you can bet the D serires does as well since its now a licencing requirement for all new BR players.

Re: Samsung D Series & Cinavia?

What's weird is, when playing a film which I know to have Cinavia protection through ps3mediaserver using my ps3, I get the cinavia watermarking issue.

However if playing it using Serviio, through my TV (Sammy) and missing out my PS3 altogether, I get to watch it watermark-issue free. So whether it's capable or not...it's not actually in use!

Just have to keep my eye open for pesky f/ware updates perhaps.

Anyone with any further input on this?

This seems to be a good list:

It seems like the Sony PS3 is one of the most popular Cinavia-encumbered devices, but strangely Sony BDP players seem to be spared, for now. Be very cautious about applying firmware updates going forward. They can't be reverted...

Yup, I will be with my TV for sure. PS3...that's going to be kept up to date.

This is one reason I have automatic updating of firmware turned off for all my devices. You never know what new limitation is going to be added to the firmware.
