Roku with 2.0 Not working once user assigned

I have been a long time Serviio Pro user. I recently upgraded to 2.0. The first thing I discovered was that there is no setting to have a specific user account automatically assigned to new devices on the network, but I've seen that that has already been requested. For us that's important as I have new devices automatically assigned to PG and lower. Then I can go in and manually assign R and higher ratings.

With "Unassigned" everything is accessible, so I went in and changed all of the devices to a PG-lower user. Then, the Roku devices on the network stopped working. Assigning them to R-Higher also causes them to stop working (by stop working, they report that they are "Waiting for Media Devices"). Changing them back to unassigned and rebooting them causes them to start working again.

As best I can tell, no other device types appear to be impacted by this.

Is anybody else seeing this problem?

Re: Roku with 2.0 Not working once user assigned

I just tested this on my test server. I changed my only user to PG, and then assigned that user to my Sharp Roku TV. As expected, R rated movies were no longer listed, but I could play anything that was shown. I have two additional Roku players (Ultra and Premiere) that I'll test later today. But I don't see anything wrong here.

But not working, can you describe exactly what is and is not happening? Can you connect to Serviio in Roku Media Player, and if so can you see titles? If so, is it that they just won't play? Exactly where is the problem?

Re: Roku with 2.0 Not working once user assigned

When I assign it as a user, the Roku doesn't even see Serviio in the media player.. it just waits. When I change it back to unassigned, it can see it and then all titles are available. Have you tried it with multiple users?

Re: Roku with 2.0 Not working once user assigned

I just created a new user with a different name and password from the first user account. I gave it a G rating restriction. It all works perfectly on my Roku Premiere.

However, I did discover one issue: when I changed the user assigned to any device, it isn't "sticking". As soon as i leave the Status tab and return I find the old user still assigned. I tried removing all users, leaving every device unassigned. It still isn't retaining the user assignments, with the previous user names reappearing. So, @zip we have a problem here. But it's not Roku specific, as I tried changing my Samsung TV to a user, which stuck, but then removed the user, but it's still there.

Beyond that, I still have no problem seeing my Serviio server regardless of what rating I assign to a specific user. I changed the rating to G, and that Roku can only see G and unrated titles. I changed it to PG-13 and exited the Movies folder and went back in, and now I see 330 movies instead of 191. I changed it to R, and now I see 370. But at all times I have no issues seeing the Serviio server itself.

Re: Roku with 2.0 Not working once user assigned

To be clear, this has nothing to do with the rating.. it's related to just being assigned a user. One of my 'users' has no restrictions if that matters. Not sure why my Roku's are behaving differently than yours (or everybody's elses for that matter). I'll try more debugging when I get a chance.. If I downgrade back to something before 2.0, I assume all of my settings get wiped out?

Re: Roku with 2.0 Not working once user assigned

You can't downgrade. You have to perform a clean install if you want to drop down version numbers. So yes, you will have to redo your configuration.
