Re: Denon compatibility

There is an open ticket that should fix this: https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... wing-empty

Re: Denon compatibility

Thanks for this.

I joined and visited the Bitbucket site, but not entirely sure what that is or how that works. I added a comment on this issue but wasn't sure what else I could do. (?) Seems like this issue has been around for a while. Is there hope that it will be addressed? I would be happy to try to help, but judging by the discussion above, this is far too technical for me (I am just a biologist) and I am not sure what I can add.

If it is not likely to be solved, is there other media streaming software that would work with Windows Storage Server 2008 that doesn't have this issue? I am stuck.

Since he has not logged in since then, this could be a good sign. I will try this later today when I get home. There are several "Sony Bravia" choices under device profiles. Does it matter which one I try?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello, I did end up trying a bunch on generic profiles including the Sony ones and had the same results as yourself, no go. My Denon 3808CI is running 02.04 main and 01.11 sub version of the firmware but this issue seems to be across the 08 series.

Re: Denon compatibility

Hello,
I am not sure if the open ticket addresses my issue but, I have a Denon AVR-3313CI. It can see Serviio just fine, I can drill down to all my music and movies folders and see all my stuff and I can even play all kinds of music via the Denon DLNA network or the Denon iPhone app. But if I click on a movie expecting the movie to play, I get a "Cannot Play File" message.
is this a shortcoming of the profile? Should I start tinkering with it as if it were a video renderer?

On a side note, I come from 5 years of Plex media server, and I have to say, after just two days of playing with Serviio, I am very impressed with what I see.

Re: Denon compatibility

Does the device support video at all? Is it not just a music receiver?

Re: Denon compatibility

Yes, it is an audio/video receiver. Since I can load up the Denon iPhone app (which accesses the Denon DLNA client), and then I can browse my network, I see serviio and all my music. I can select any song and send it to any of the three zones the receiver supports. For instance Zone 2 is my basement. So it will start playing the song only in the basement.
So, I guess, the way I figured it would work for movies is... since the mac mini running Serviio is connected to the receiver via HDMI, it would start playing the movie over that connection thus sending it to my projector.

But now that I say it out loud, I think that will not work because what is probably happening is it's trying to play it on the iPhone, and that is what is probably not compatible. At least not within the Denon app. I don't know, just a though.
I have not tried the mediabrowser yet, maybe that'll work better.

Re: Denon compatibility

Hi,
I have just tried version 1.3 RC1 hoping it would work with my Denon 3808. Unfortunately no luck, same problem as before: receiver finds server but once selected it displays "---- empty ----" :( .
Tried different profiles like Generic, Sony, other, none work. Same receiver on the same network works fine with other DLNA servers such as: tvMobili, TVersity.
I have also downloaded "Developer Tools For UPnP Technologies" and all the tools seem to be compatible with Denon receiver. UPNP Spy properly recognizes receiver's capabilities, MediaServer is accessible and able to stream files to receivers (even DTS5.1 files without any transcoding, not to mention standard Wave or MP3), AV Media Controller can properly control streaming of media between Server and Denon 3808.
So far it is big mystery why it does not work with Serviio.
Petr, if there is anything I could do help out solving this issue I am more than willing. Perhaps it would help if I gathered some info using UPNP Device Spy software. Please let me know.
I am sure that many other users besides me would be very happy to see this resolver as 3808 are great receivers and will remain in service for a while (they do not make equipment like this anymore).
Regards,
Artur
