Need help with Costar Vizio

Hi!

I have been using serviio happily for some time, then just did not have time to watch much. So, in meantime, serviio got update, and after 4 or 5 reminder, I have upgraded. I have added my Co-star Vizio googleTV box section in profile, but to my surprise, no video worked anymore. So I digged out Serviio 1.1 and re-installed from scratch, but now, anything that needs transcoding is not working. After trying multiple changes to profiles, I am stuck and don't know what more to try. By my knowledge, Costar box plays MKV files, just not MKV with AC3 sound (shows video, but there is no sound). So transcoding to mp3 used to work.

Serviio server and console are running on Windows 8, and PlayPoint and/or aVia player on Co-Star Visio googleTV box (connected to server through router using wired ethernet)

The profile I'm using is:

  Code:
<Profile id="151" name="Vizio Costar" extendsProfileId="1">
   <Transcoding>
      <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="mp3" aBitrate="192" forceInheritance="true">
         <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="ac3" />
         <Matches container="mpeg" aCodec="ac3" />
         <Matches container="mpegts" aCodec="ac3" />
      </Video>
   </Transcoding>
</Profile>

Debug log is attached, with one working avi file played first, then problematic MKV. Also, media file outputs are attached for both files.

In desperation, I even attempted to make "empty" profile, but Costar player just returns "there was a problem playing this media" (which is different message then unsupported format that I'm not getting with transcoded files). When I say empty, this is what it looked like:
  Code:
<Profile id="153" name="Vizio CostarMkvMp3" extendsProfileId="1">
   <Transcoding>
      <Video targetContainer="mpegts">
         <Matches container="matroska" aCodec="ac3" />
         <Matches container="mpeg" aCodec="ac3" />
         <Matches container="mpegts" aCodec="ac3" />
      </Video>
   </Transcoding>
</Profile>

Even this above messed up mkv files the same way - "there was a problem playing this media", no video, no sound. I run resulting "do nothing" ffmpeg command separately,
  Code:
ffmpeg.exe -fflags +genpts -threads auto -i "D:\video\Little House on the prairie\episode 24.mkv" -y -copyts -c:v copy -c:a copy -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -f mpegts D:\video\Serviio\transcoding-temp-26-153-ORIGINAL.stf

and bellow are the details of what it showed:
  Code:
Input #0, matroska,webm, from 'D:\video\Little House on the prairie\episode 24.m
kv':
  Metadata:
    creation_time   : 2013-03-27 03:41:30

    Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 192 kb/s (default)
    Metadata:
      title           : 2/0
Stream mapping:
  Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy)
  Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (copy)

Interesting to note is that my previous problem of windows serviio console constantly re-setting profile set from UI is now gone (and it used to be present in my original install of 1.1 and upgraded 1.2). Not sure if that is related to this problem at all.

Re: Need help with Costar Vizio

The basic profile you created doesn't have any sound options.

Have you tried upgrading the copy of ffmpeg to the latest and greatest build? might be some weird issue with the supplied build of ffmpeg in this version.

Re: Need help with Costar Vizio

I tried upgrading ffmpeg, but then nothing worked anymore (no files could be played, clicking on them did nothing, like Serviio never even got the request).

I gave up, cleaned Vizio CoStar (uninstalled aVia player to make sure - that at least solved the "loosing profile" issue in Serviio console), uninstalled Serviio, rebooted, installed 1.2.1 Serviio again. I'm back to square one - mkv files do not play. The profile I'm using is quoted bellow, and debug log is attached. I am looking at any, ANY ideas.

  Code:
        <Profile id="153" name="Vizio CostarMkvMp3" extendsProfileId="1">
                <Transcoding>
                        <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="mp3" aBitrate="320" forceInheritance="true">
                                <Matches container="matroska" />
                        </Video>
                </Transcoding>
   </Profile>

Re: Need help with Costar Vizio

Try to transcode to mpeg2 as a start:

  Code:
<Profile id="153" name="Vizio CostarMkvMp3" extendsProfileId="1">
                <Transcoding>
                        <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="mp3" aBitrate="320">
                                <Matches container="matroska" />
                        </Video>
                </Transcoding>
   </Profile>
