[solved] metadata/mediabrowser issue?

Is it possible for me to drop my db and let it rebuild from scratch?

  Code:
2013-09-04 09:05:33,277 DEBUG [MediaItemDAOImpl] Media item Furious 6.mp4 already exists in DB

I'm not getting anything to show up in my 'Movies'. The kicker is that I have an .nfo and file/directory is named appropriately. But I still get nothing (I did verify that there is NO metadata information in the .mp4 which I thought was odd, so I put the .nfo in the same directory as the file yet still nothing).

Is it permissions on the folder that might prevent it from displaying? I can view the video if browsing thru 'Folder' or 'Titles'. There is no proxy server or F/W (currently) that would hinder outbound communication to the database. But. I am scratching my head on this one. I've looked thru the logs, nothing is standing out to me saying what the issue might be.

TIA!!

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

You can click Refresh video metadata button on the metadata tab.

I've rebooted a few times too. It WAS working... I'll collect some fresh logs. =]

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

Are you using Online Metadata - in Serviio Console, Metadata tab, what is set under Descriptive Metadata, the first dropbox?

If you are, try renaming the file to "Fast & Furious 6 (2013).mp4" (I presume it's this film) and then refresh your library.

If you want to use .nfo files rather than online sources, then you need to set it in the Descriptive Metadata option (and you will need to have nfo files for every movie).

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

I'm currently set to use NFO. Using this option is the only way that I can get anything to show up in 'Video > Movies'. Switching to any of the others (Online database as well) and nothing will show after restarting service. The movie I had in there was a bad copy (gotta love &'s in the name...) so I redid whats in there. They play fantastic and sound fine.

Setting it to NFO also gives me Genre during playback but I'm not getting any link to view the synopsis or cast.

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

I thought that was it. :( Still not getting anything to show up Home > Video > Movies there. Just in Home > Video > Folders > videos.

The odd thing I also notice is that when I play the video, I'm not getting a summary on the bottom of the video screen. Just the title and length of video. I don't think I have anything blocking communication, no firewalls. argh

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

A few posts have been deleted that may make it hard for anyone following this thread. Anyway:
Still not getting anything to show up Home > Video > Movies there. Just in Home > Video > Folders > videos..... I'm not getting a summary on the bottom of the video screen.
Using Serviio Mediabrowser or on your TV?

In the log file you provided it still finds the file as "Parental Guidance.mp4". Did you you rename the file prior to the getting the log???

Ensure you have "Retrieve Descriptive Metadata" ticked for the library concerned (Serviio Console, Library, Shared Folders) and Descriptive Metadata set to Online Sources (Serviio Console, Metadata, Video).

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

I say TY! I'm not going batty. I swore there was more posts, hahahaha. I thought I had double posted, tried to fix, then realized it wasn't so I fixed it. Went back to the main forum, but came back to check something you said, and... Er... Its not there, argh! hahahaha Too funny...

But getting back. :D

No, ATM I'm still testing everything out on the mediabrowser page utilizing web browser. This is where alot of viewing will take place, and where the cost of the software comes in. I'd like to verify that this works before I purchase. =] And, its working...ish. Just getting nit picky I know. But I'd really like the meta data to be pulled automatically and the movies to be listed in appropriate folders (eventually I'd like to take the page a little further, and give synopsis, cast, and other fun information on the movie - IMDB styled! But that is once I get the core services going of course, hehe)

And yes, I've tried deleting, and restarting services between deletions trying to purge out old bad data. I have renamed all my video files (after checking site to verify that it would need a different filename.

Re: metadata/mediabrowser issue?

The picture tells the story....
In your first image - the Shared Folder /videos needs to have "Retrieve Descriptive Metadata" (4th checkbox from the left, under the "M" symbol) enabled. Press save after enabling, and then refresh library.
<Edit>Also, after doing that Rescan video metadata (2nd image) - shouldn't be needed but won't hurt</Edit>
