When will be IPv6 supported?

Hi,

my new provider (Unitymedia Cable) has only IPv6 Addresses. No possibility to get an IPv4-Address (using DS-Lite-Tunnel , IPv4 over DS-Lite). No dual stack possible.
Now I have a fixed IP-adress (IPv6) but no chance to get contact with serviio from outside. ServiiGo does´t work. Also my dyndns accout (selfhost.me) only accept IPv4-addresses.
Great, I have no access but with 100Mbit. :-(

I'm not an expert, but wouldn't that be the job of the router? Ie your external IP is v6 and router forwards the port to yout v4 local serviio address.

Re: When will be IPv6 supported?

I'm not an expert either, but I belive it's not quite that simple, they aren't just different address schemes, they are completely different (and incompatiable) protocals. So you need an end-to-end IPv6 or IPv4 link, or otherwise you need to create a tunnel to bypass the section of the network that only supports one of them.

Is this a residential line or some form of hosted solution? It seems very odd to me that an ISP would provide absolutely no means for IPv4 access even for a dedicated server, as although IPv6 uptake is increasing, the majority of services are IPv4 only. Also, unless you get IPv6 via you phone provider as well, the only thing I can think of is to setup your own tunnel to a dedicated server which has support for both. I've setup a IPv6 over IPv4 tunnel via HE before, but not the other way around, I guess there must be providers out there that will be your endpoint.
