Accessing DirecTV HR34 Video from Serviio Media Browser

Hey guys, so I've been going crazy for the last several hours trying to figure this out.

I am running Serviio on Windows. It detects the receiver under Renderer Profile as DirecTV HD-DVR with no problem, and it has a green status.

However, when I want to view the videos I've recorded in the Serviio Media Browser, there is "No Content Available". Am I supposed to somehow add the network path for the HD-DVR to the Library Tab? Both subtabs - Shared Folders and Online Sources are blank, under Library. Will Serviio still propagate the directory listing from the DirecTV without adding anything to the Library Tab?

Regardless, nothing shows up, so I can't find or play anything. I also set it so the Serviio Service is properly logged into the Windows user.

I will PM a debug log file to a staff member if any would like.

Please help! This is really frustrating.

EDIT: It seems like after much reading that I may have confused the general purpose of Serviio and that is playing video files on the DirecTV itself (Serviio -> DTV). However, what I am trying to do is play the Videos/Recordings from DirectTV on the Serviio Media Browser (DTV -> Serviio).

Yes, you need to add the folder or path to your media files to the Library, Shared Folders within Serviio Console.

The first step is - can you see the files stored on your device from your Windows PC (under Windows Explorer). If not, you will need to get that up and running first.

Once done, use the Add Path to add the path to the device (you can get the path from the Address bar in Windows Explorer - its usually in the form \\servername\path).

The next issue you may have is permissions. Come back to us if you still cannot see your media.

The DirecTV receiver is not listed as a computer, only as media devices. And as a media device, I have no idea how to find the directory path.

EDIT: I can view DirecTV's own Media Server through Windows Media Player, which shows all my video recordings and lists them. But none are playable.

Has what I have described actually been done before?

Unless you can get access to the HDD on the devices it won't work. Check under Network in Windows Explorer. How do you transfer files from this device to another?

Not sure if anyone has done this - a quick 2 minutes on the web suggests it isn't possible to share the drives on the HR34 (which is what you need to do).

Yeah, it seems like I have totally confused what the general public was using Serviio for (playing videos on their DTV itself), which is something I have no need for.

It's odd because Windows Media Player (and VLC) will read the entire directory listing of the DirecTV Media Server, but like I said, you can't play any of the video files.
When you want to playback a video URL, it looks something like this: http://172.16.30.214:9000/playback?id=a ... 1208ffad06

I'm even skeptical if we did find a way to list the videos in Serviio, would it be able to transcode and successfully play the video files?

I cannot access the link you provided. In answer to your question "would it be able to transcode and successfully play the video files?"... probably, it can transcode most things, but without knowing what type of file it stores media as....

I understand some DTV devices can transfer media to an external HDD/memory stick - why not try that and then use Serviio to access that drive and see if it will transcode it.

You shouldn't be able to access the link. It's only an example and it would only be accessible via localhost or within a network that has a DirecTV receiver.

You have the ability to add an external HD, but only for additional space, and not for portability. I have read that the receiver encodes a connected external HDD into a linux format, which is otherwise inaccessible if connected elsewhere.
