Library browsing

Hello,

The problem I'm having is either so trivial that there's no answer anywhere on the web or I'm the only one needing this.

I need to browse the library from Serviio console (Windows). I want that because I'm having problems with either sharing or accessing the files I want to distribute via DLNA, and currently the only way I can verify what's being shared is by going back and forth between my TV (Samsung) and my PC which_is_really_annoying. Added to that, there's 'show status' button in the Library section which is always showing a window with two red dots for files check - don't know what to make of that, and there's not a trace of any documentation about that.

I really love Serviio features - I was using Mediatomb earlier which was a nightmare, but it had one great feature - a library browser! Without it, as I said above, using it is really annoying at times.

Re: Library browsing

The type of database used by Serviio (Derby embedded) does not allow more than one connection at a time. This means Serviio connects while running, but nothing else can. If you have the Pro version (or still running under the free trial timeframe) you can use the web-based media browser to see what's in to library. The only other option at this time is to completely shut Serviio down and use an SQL client to view the contents. I use Squirrel (http://www.squirrelsql.org/). However, you must really know what you are doing within the database so you don't break it.

As long as Serviio uses the embedded database, the only way to browse the database is from within Serviio itself. I don't think Zip has any immediate plans to add such a feature, although it has been requested in the past.

Oh, and the Library status indicators: the upper one shows when Serviio is checking for new files (there's a small window on the same tab that allows setting the checking interval) and the other is for when Serviio checks this web site for updates. Uses the same interval as above.

Re: Library browsing

Not sure the OP was looking to share the database, just wanted to troubleshoot what was added to the library by eyeballing the TV. As atc98092 states, if a Pro user or still in the eval period, use MediaBrowser (see http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... diabrowser) to save running back and forth from the TV. If not a pro user use a DLNA software client (XMBC perhaps) to do the same thing.

The green dot means that it is checking for updates, a red dot means its finished (or otherwise not active).
