Metadata Does Not Seem To Be Working

Hi,

I am completely new to Serviio so please forgive me if I have made any really basic mistakes - I have searched the forums already, but have not found anything so far so I have created a new post here.

I have Serviio installed on Windows 7 and have added a test media folder containing two ripped DVDs (i.e. VIDEO_TS folders). I have also used MyMovies to generate its own metadata files plus nfo files for the two DVDs (one movie disc and one TV series disc) and have had a look through the nfo files to check the metadata is all correct (the MyMovie files are encrypted, but the metadata looks fine in collection management).

However, when I browse using Serviio Media Browser or even my BD player, I just see the vob files with no extra information that I would have expected from the metadata files. It's like they aren't being picked up by the server at all. I have restarted and rescanned, but they just appear in clients as they would if those metadata files were not there at all.

Am I missing something obvious here? Should I not be seeing some of that metadata information in the browser or player clients?

Cheers
Dan

Re: Metadata Does Not Seem To Be Working

How do you have it setup in your configuration?

When you goto the Metadata tab. Where are you pulling your descriptive metadata from? (Online, local, ect)? Also, on the Library tab, do you have the file data type checked correctly and/or did you get the M column checked as well? That M is critical as well... Hope that helps!

Re: Metadata Does Not Seem To Be Working

Hi Sleky, it was the M!! It was not checked, only the video files box was.

Now I have results when browsing by genre, director, etc which is great! Except that because it is a dvd folder with loads of vobs, there are masses of duplicate entries - presumably one per vob. I guess the only way of fixing this is by having a single (joined up) vob as Serviio does not seem to recognise a DVD folder as a single movie - unless there is another magic checkbox somewhere ;-) I will go looking now, thanks for your help :)
