Problem removed??? Errors in "Composers" menu

I have presentation for Composers set to "Display Category".

I have a lot of CDs with music by Johann Sebastian Bach ripped to my server (all quite legal...) in FLAC format.

The FLAC (Vorbis) tag "Composer" has been set to "Bach, Johann Sebastian" for all the music files in this Bach collection. This was done using "Easytag".
I am absolutely sure of this, or at least as far as my eyes can read the fields shown by Easytag.

However, when I browse the "Composers" menu on any and all renderers and control point apps on my android phone, a few albums in the Bach collection show up under the composer "Bach, J S", not "Bach, Johann Sebastian". I have racked my brain and painstakingly checked on all the files, but I cannot see any reason why this error occurs.

All these "error" albums have been in my library a very long time, and they all had Composer set to "Bach, J S" before I edited it all a few days ago. But so did most of the other albums, too!

What could be the problem?

Re: Errors in "Composers" menu

I'm running Serviio 1.3.1, haven't had the time to move versions.

Today I upgraded to 1.4.

I also moved the entire library db tree over to the new distro.

The problem with the "erroneous Composers" remained.

I then removed all of the Audio media files from the Shared Folders entries in the Console.

I waited until the Show status pane showed two red dots, and then reentered the Music media file tree and refreshed the database.

The problem of "old composer tags values sticking" disappeared, but I think there's some problem concerning updating the library db; old tags sometimes stick and won't change.

Is this known? Worth further investigation??

It should detect the file has been changed (by it's last changed date) and update the metadata, if you have it selected in the console.

It turns out a quick fix is to do a "touch *" in the directory where the flacs reside whenever tags change. Could be a problem with the solaris version of easytag or a bug in easytag. Probably not serviio.
