JPG photo album doesn't display images

I would like to create a photo album of my wedding photos, but when I add the location to serviio and refresh, it does not index any of the files. All of my devices respond to attempts to view the contents of the location with "no playable files".

Each of the files in the location are 1280x800 or inverted
they are all named IMG_2121.jpg and likewise
they are all roughly 100kb to 250kb

I cannot make sense of it. I have added some other jpeg files to the location and they will show up, but my wedding photos wont.

I tried to run FFMPEG -i on one of them, and here was my result. Unfortunately I don't understand every function of troubleshooting DLNA and serviio, but I usually do alright on my own. This readout however does not make much sense to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could anyone help please? I couldn't find any finished solutions in threads related to my issue when I was searching. One thread made note of the mjpeg meaning it is a video jpeg and so wont play as an image, but they don't index under video source either. If this is indeed the issue, what do I need to adjust either with serviio or how can I bulk convert these images so they can be viewed?

It is the issue with ffmpeg. You can give a new ffmpeg static build a try from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/.

Just download and replaced serviio ffmpeg with new ffmpeg from this page.

I updated FFMPEG and rebooted the PC. Then attempted to view the files again, (both under photo source and video source) and forced a refresh and tried again, but I am still having same problem, these JPGs are not getting indexed. I ran the ffmpg.exe -i again and here is the readout.

Edit: I found a couple more support threads for this sort of thing now searching the phrase "missing JFIF string". And I didn't see a solution, but one you replied saying this is a limitation of a used library.

can I fix this for 800 photos?

as it seems this is an issue with the files and just a limitation of serviio, I started to brainstorm how I could massively manipulate these jpgs with a software that might add the jfif string.I came across a solution to my problem and it was very simple. windows apparently fixes this when using the built in editor to rotate images. so one solution is to just rotate all of the images, then rotate them back. now serviio indexes them all. problem solved. thanks again. hope this helps somebody in the future!

This solved the issue with serviio. I no longer receive errors in the log, and the thumbnails show up on my blu-ray player. I can even view them through serviio on my phone via MediaHouse.

But I do still have an issue. Somehow, the images display only a black screen when viewed on my Blu-ray player (sony BDP-s580). So I'm creating this post to cross reference.
