Fixing Erroneous Metadata

Hi there,

I have added my videos to the library, but in a number of cases the title was completely changed to something else.

For example: a TV episode of Blacks Books was incorrectly categorized as a movie called: Mr. Moto Takes A Chance

Now, the obvious issue is the online metadata service getting confused and returning erroneous results, but my question is: Can we correct our local database entries manually? And if so, How?

Re: Fixing Erroneous Metadata

While you cannot edit the local library database, you can fix your issue quite simply by renaming your files. The title of the movie or series is based on metadata collected from thetvdb.com or themoviedb.org. Metadata from those sites is matched to your video based on the file name of your video file.

So to fix your problem, simply rename your file - while this is a bit of a pain, its a once-off exercise that doesn't take long using some of the tools available. In the case of your Blacks Books series, the filename is likely to be something along the lines of "Blacks Books Sxx Eyy.abc" where xx is the season number and yy is the episode number (and abc is the existing extension of the file).

Have a read of my post here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10626&p=70544#p70544 for more details and some hints.
