PS3 doesn't play some MKV Files

Hi,

i have a strange issue. I use a PS3 as streaming device. But it interrups some playbacks quite randomly. I provide you some informations about the files ....

  Code:

Windows Server 2012 Standard
Java 8

Now some informations about the files. Im wondering about the lots of codingsettings. Other files serviio plays without problems doesn't have these settings.

Re: PS3 doesn't play some MKV Files

Not sure - we were looking at a similar issue here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16339.

I noted then, as I do now, that the transcoded file was already in the cache "A suitable transcoding job already exists, re-use it for client". Co-incidence? Not sure, but you need to clear the cache so the DEBUG command shows a new transcode job being started (see that post for details).

What I often do for any MKV's not playing nicely on my PS3 is remux them to an MP4 file. This is a quick process, without quality loss, which allows the PS3 to play the file natively - this is always a better option than transcoding. It's not really a fix for the issue, it simply avoids it (and provides better handling of the video - ffwd, rewind, scanning, etc - the PS3 appears to be optimised for MP4's). Details on how to remux can be found in that other post or you can use my tool here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12136 (use the Remux tab) to do bulk remuxes.
