Jon Severinsson FFMPEG crashes

hello,
on our ubuntu 12.04 LTS (server) os the ffmpeg doesnt seems to work...
we´ve got 1 Sony tv (Bravia 2011), so serviio needs to decode the mkv´s from our hdd.
the original wiki-entry is really useless in this situation. i have installed serviio detailled step by step, but serviio was printing in the log "cant found ffmpeg".
so after long googleling, i found the Jon Severinsson ffmpeg package, which i was installing fast, so the sony-tv was playing some movies, for ex : Avatar..
but when i look into the taskmanager of ubuntu server (top) it tells me, that ffmpeg uses around 80% of cpu ( i was dissapointed, because serviio used at starting 380%.. isnt 100% the limit?), but suddenly the movie stopped, and ffmpeg has crashed, or was on low cpu like 3%... on the same server with some windows server 2008 r2 os, the serviio for windows worked properly, without lags in the movie.. the cpu was aroung 30%

so im asking me, if it is possible to install the same ffmpeg version like on windows, how should i do that? or is there some other way? i dont believe its the bad cpu of the server (Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N2800 @ 1.86GHz, 4 cores) the server is the whole day in idle, and only for media streaming.. with windows all worked, but i wanted to switch to ubuntu..
so is there some way to get it worked with ffmpeg? or some alternatives?

greetings
